EFI and Xerox begin shipping Fiery controller with Xerox WorkCentre 7700 Series

Press release from the issuing company

Foster City, Calif. - EFI, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, and Xerox Corporation today began shipping the Fiery Network Controller for the Xerox WorkCentre 7700 Series of color multifunction printers (MFPs) to meet the demanding requirements of office environments where maximum productivity, ease of use, and high-quality color are essential. The WorkCentre 7700 Series MFPs are one of the first to support Fiery VUE, the desktop application that makes publishing of professional-looking finished documents fast and simple for all office workers.

With speeds up to 50 pages per minute (ppm) in color and up to 75 ppm in black and white, the WorkCentre 7700 Series handle everything from general office documents to high-volume color print jobs. These MFPs also manage multiple printing, copying, scanning and faxing tasks simultaneously without interruption for quick turnarounds.

"EFI Fiery controllers drive Xerox engines across our product line, ensuring customers ranging in size from the small office to the high-volume commercial printer can quickly and painlessly produce vibrant-looking documents," said Leah Quesada, vice president of office marketing, Xerox Corporation. "The WorkCentre 7700 Series with the Fiery controller delivers a unique combination of increased productivity and easy to use color management tools to the office. It is like achieving expert results without being an expert."

"Our latest Fiery controller paired with the advanced features of the WorkCentre 7700 Series ensure that office workers of any skill level can easily produce eye-catching documents," said John Henze, vice president of marketing, Fiery division, EFI. "While there are many new capabilities to enhance productivity and color quality, we're excited to offer WorkCentre 7700 Series users the game changing Fiery VUE application, which takes all the complexity out of producing professional documents."

Today, businesses are moving from black and white to color printing, and keeping more print jobs in-house to control costs and security. Targeted at enterprise customers across all departments, the recently launched Fiery VUE desktop application allows users to interact with a document on-screen in 3D to sculpt and then preview exactly how the finished document will look when printed. This creates better looking documents, reduces waste and lowers overall cost.

For enterprises demanding color control and maximum image quality, there is the optional Fiery Color Profiler Suite with integrated color management tools that ensure total color quality control in the print workflow. Office users looking for high-quality "out-of the-box" color can rely on Fiery ColorWise color management tools, while the Spot-On option ensures the best match of PANTONE colors and streamlines workflow with standardized corporate color palettes.

Besides color quality, Fiery controllers are synonymous with high performance. The Fiery controller's Smart RIP technology significantly improves performance by allowing one page to be printed while subsequent pages are being processed, enabling more pages to be printed per hour. To speed up printing processes users have the option to let Fiery Hot Folders and Virtual Printers automate the print submission process, saving time when printing repetitive types of jobs.

Fiery controllers are easily deployed in Windows and Macintosh environments and support all industry standard networking protocols.
