RPI Expands Customized Printing Capacity with Xerox iGen4 Press

Press release from the issuing company

Seattle, WA and Anaheim, CA (PMA 2010) -- RPI (www.rpiprint.com), a leader in automated, personalized manufacturing and fulfillment for the consumer print-on-demand market, today announced its successful rollout of digital printing's next generation equipment: Xerox Corporation's iGen4 Press. Part of RPI's continuous improvement program, the Q3 2009 installation of the high-speed, cut-sheet digital color press enabled the company to streamline and automate some of its processes by as much as 25 percent during the peak Q4 holiday season, saving its customers time and money without sacrificing quality.

Thanks in part to the company's expanding personal expressions and collateral product lines, RPI was Xerox's top producer in the West on the iGen4 Press in Q4 2009, and third in overall iGen press volume.

"The productivity of our manufacturing services is a key factor to our overall growth strategy," said Rick Bellamy, CEO of RPI. "With the iGen4 presses, we not only increase our flexibility in meeting on-time customer delivery – we can do it more efficiently and cost-effectively, thanks to the automation and streamlined maintenance. Given our increased order volume produced on tighter timelines for personalized print products, the iGen4 will be instrumental in meeting consumer desires with new products and a shorter time to delivery."

In 2008, RPI led the industry by producing a record 4.6 million photo products. In 2009, the company achieved another landmark: celebrating 30 years in the printing industry. Going forward, the iGen4 press will help increase the company's momentum as it introduces new components to its wide selection of print-on-demand products.

"The iGen4 press is ideal for producing personalized collateral, direct marketing and photo specialty products - the type of print jobs that typically generate the most profits for fulfillment partners such as RPI," noted Kevin Horey, vice president, production product marketing, Xerox. "Its versatility and operational efficiency over traditional offset printing makes it a good choice for the on-time delivery of RPI's personalized, on-demand stationery products."
