Think Patented strikes gold with PIA, NAPL awards

Monday, February 22, 2010

Press release from the issuing company

Dayton, Ohio – Think Patented, Dayton's leading commercial printing and graphic communications company, has been honored by two major industry associations for its printing and management excellence. The company received more than a dozen awards, including Best of Region, from the Printing Industries of Ohio/Northern Kentucky, for excellence in print production. It also received a NAPL Management Plus Gold Award for overall management best practices and two NAPL Marketing Plus Gold and one Silver Award for excellence in marketing.

"These awards from our industry's leading associations continue to show that Think Patented is truly a forward looking company with a customer centric DNA in constant pursuit of operational excellence" said Niels M Winther, Chairman of the Board and Managing Partner of Think Patented. "We are incredibly pleased to be recognized by our peers in the industry for our client work and the operations of our company."

NAPL Awards Think Patented is one of only three companies in the nation to receive the Management Plus Gold Award, which was presented at NAPL's recent Top Management Conference in Marco Island, Fla. Unlike other graphic arts competitions in which printed pieces are judged, Management Plus entrants are judged on how they perform against industry standards in seven key management areas: leadership and governance, human resources, strategic planning, marketing and sales, operations, community/industry relations, and financial performance. Entries are based on the NAPL Management Plus Best Practices Assessment, a diagnostic tool that printing companies can use to compare their own management performance against accepted standards.

"Management Plus award winners are not only dedicated to exemplary managerial performance, but extend that commitment into every area of their organization and their interactions with customers, vendors and their communities," said Joseph P. Truncale, NAPL President and Chief Executive Officer. "They are the companies that set the management bar for our industry and they continue to move it higher. On behalf of everyone at NAPL, I congratulate Think Patented on their 2009 Management Plus honor."

Think Patented also received two NAPL Marketing Plus Gold Awards for Corporate Identity and Corporate Re-Branding campaigns, and a Silver Award in the Sales/Lead Generation category.

"Being recognized by the graphic communications industry and NAPL for our performance reinforces what we say here at Think Patented," said Kenneth O. McNerney, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Think Patented. "To continue to serve our clients with world-class production and services, we must use the industry's best practices in our operations and understand and apply the latest industry technology. We are extremely honored to have been selected as a Management Plus Gold recipient and a multiple award-winner in this year's competition. It is truly a company-wide honor that recognizes all of our employees."

PIA Awards Think Patented won more than a dozen PIA awards at the group's recent Print Excellence Banquet in Cincinnati. In addition, to the Best of Region honor for its Crown Equipment product catalog, it received five Gold Awards in the following categories: Environmentally Sound Materials for Visual Marketing Associates; Newsletters and House for Newpage; Brochures-Multi Page for Lastar; Self-Mailers  for Midmark; and Catalogs-Product for Crown Equipment.

Think Patented received three Silver Awards for Lastar, Lumina Foundation and Midmark as well as five Bronze Awards  for Jeremy Loyd Design,  Midmark's 2009 Diagnostics Promo;  Digital Printing for Midmark's 3-D Entry,  Corporate Communications  for Caresource and Environmentally Sound Materials for Lunne Marketing.
