TORRANCE, Calif., (September 28, 2003) - The Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF), a non-profit organization dedicated to the document communications industry, announced today the recipients of the 2003 EDSF Scholarship Awards. Considered to be one of the foundation's most important industry programs, this year's scholarships were awarded to 26 students who demonstrated high achievement and a commitment to careers in the document communications industry. "The students today are our industry's future-bright individuals who are currently pursuing an education and focusing their professional careers towards the document communications industry", said Jeanne Mowlds, EDSF Executive Director. "It is important to EDSF to promote education and to help these students continue their career goals. We are excited and continually impressed by the high caliber, top quality, and potential of the EDSF scholarship recipients." EDSF scholarships are awarded to full-time students worldwide who are committed to pursuing a career in the field of document communications in the areas of document preparation, production and document distribution. Within these categories, scholarship awards are based on the student's demonstrated pursuit of a career in 1:1 marketing, graphic communication & arts, e-commerce; imaging science, printing, web authoring, electronic publishing, computer science or telecommunications. "Not enough can be said about the educational contributions of The Electronic Document Systems Foundation," said Jessica DePalma, a senior and broadcast journalism major at University of Southern California Los Angeles, CA. "As a two-time EDSF scholarship recipient, I am honored to be able to represent such an outstanding organization. Because of EDSF, I have been offered jobs, I have gained exposure to the industry, and I have been a part of many great opportunities." The EDSF scholarship awards program was established to recognize and support the dramatic role that education plays in the success of document communication companies. Scholarships are available worldwide for four-year and advanced students, as well as one and two-year technical or community college students. Initiated in1999 by awarding one scholarship, the number of awards has been increased each year.
