Fry Communications iCATS Mobile Directory App approved by Apple

Press release from the issuing company

Mechanicsburg, PA — Apple Corporation approved the iCATS mobile
directory application developed by Fry Communications, Inc. for the iPhone today, and iCATS is now available through the iTunes store.

Fry began development of the app to better meet the changing market needs of independent directory publishers. ICATS allows iPhone users to search the publisher’s online directory data and view the results immediately on their phone, putting an advertiser’s essential information in the consumers’ hands at the “mobile decision-making moment,” and extending the reach of their advertisement beyond print.

“We are excited to complete the development of Fry’s first smartphone app, iCATS,” said Steve Grande, VP of Sales for Fry. “iCATS is both a revenue generating technology for our telephone directory partners, and an extremely useful app for local users. It allows consumers to cut through the clutter of a national directory database, and only access geographically relevant information made available through their local expert, the independent directory publisher.”

The app includes synchronization to ensure the user is receiving the most up to date information. Search yields the matching business name, address, phone number, web address and a link to view the complete advertiser information in the online directory and options to allow for a zip code based search with a distance parameter.  Both searches provide mapping and directions links using GPS enabled iPhone technology. Other features will include the ability to retrieve coupons or extend special offers to users.
