Finlay wins PINE award for manroland's expressis North America magazine

Press release from the issuing company

Finlay, the outstanding commercial printer based in Bloomfield, Connecticut, took home four awards from the Printing Industries of New England (PINE) third annual Industry Awards Gala on November 12.  Three of the laurels were Pinnacle awards, the highest honor possible in the competition.  A panel of outside printers and designers judged 40 categories, which saw Fin-lay win Pinnacles for magazine-periodics, books-hardcover, and posters.

"These awards are a way to feature the best work of printers in the New England area," said Jim Tepper, President of PINE.  "It's a celebration of print innovation and performance.  Print designers are always interested in the best of the best for new ideas."

Perhaps the most impressive achievement Finlay earned was the Pinnacle award it received in the magazine category for manroland's expressis North America.   manroland publishes the magazine to help printers keep up-to-date on new      company technology, products, services and upgrade opportunities to enhance their print business.  Finlay printed the issue shortly before the PRINT '09 show took place in early September, using its Brillance Foil by Finlay process that prints directly on foil and can achieve almost any color metallic on a 40-inch offset press in-line.

"We are very proud of our win with the expressis magazine" said Kevin Kalagher, Finlay CEO. "It was a successful collaboration between the client, printer and  technology." The company used Kurz KPS-OS foil and their 8-color manroland 708PLV HiPrint press equipped with an InlineFoiler PRINDOR to do the award-winning project.  Finlay employed their special Brilliance technique over the in-line foil for an enhanced, amazing effect.

"We congratulate Finlay on their PINE awards and the fine job they did with our magazine," said Vince Lapinski, manroland Inc. CEO.  "From front to back, this special print edition visually demonstrated what we mean by 'Innovation in Print'.  You immediately notice the difference it makes and having the ability to cold foil and print over foil in one process is something no one without a manroland press can do.  Finlay takes it to another level with their unique Brilliance Foil by Finlay process."
