Tim McNeal of Largus Printing speaks about the Glunz & Jensen's PlateWriter

Press release from the issuing company

Largus Printing of Munster, Indiana has been in the commercial printing business for over 30 years by making smart business decisions. This summer, Tim McNeal, Pre-Press Manager of Largus Printing, had a mission to upgrade their plate making equipment. Largus uses various one, two and four color presses for their commercial, quick print and form printing business. This was a major decision and the right one would bring continued success to Largus Printing. The mission to find new plate-making equipment revolved around two criteria; one - get rid of their costly darkroom and film-to-plate burner for an efficient plate making solution; two – purchase the greenest plate-making equipment in the market today.

Mission Accomplished!
Largus Printing purchased a Glunz & Jensen PlateWriter 2400; which was the 350th PlateWriter installed of the second generation of PlateWriters in the last 18 months!

So how does Tim McNeal feel about his decision and the operation of the PlateWriter 2400?

Glunz & Jensen: "Why CtP, and what was your expectations of the PlateWriter 2400?"
Tim McNeal: "We needed to get rid of the expense associated with using a darkroom and plate burner. We needed to be GREENER and expectations were high that this is exactly what we needed to accomplish both goals".

Glunz & Jensen: "Why did you choose the PlateWriter 2400?"
Tim McNeal: "It fit the gamut of applications we have here, ie: from one color, down and dirty form runs to high-end 4/C brochures."

Glunz & Jensen: "What has been your most pleasant surprise or feature of the PlateWriter 2400?"
Tim McNeal: "The maintenance is simple and it is a good looking piece of furniture. It fits nice in our pre-press area."

Glunz & Jensen: "Did the PlateWriter meet your expectations and how?"
Tim McNeal: "Yes! I am getting the run length I wanted and there are no more chemicals and no more dark room."

Glunz & Jensen: "How is the Quality?"
Tim McNeal: "The quality is beautiful!"

Glunz & Jensen: "How is the registration?"
Tim McNeal: "Spot on!"

Glunz & Jensen: "Do you have any additional comments about the Glunz & Jensen Service / Support, Sales People or your Dealer?"
Tim McNeal: "I can't say enough about the level of support I have gotten, Greg (Hayden), Les (Burman) and Sam (Dyer) have all been there whenever I call."

Glunz & Jensen: "Would you recommend the Plate Writer to other printers?"
Tim McNeal: "I most definitely would, as a matter of fact we have done so already!"

The Bottom Line: The PlateWriter 2400 allowed Largus to shut down its darkroom alleviating the expense of it and the chemicals to process film and plates. Largus will have a return on its investment in 18-24 months.
