DANVERS, Mass.-- RISO, Inc., a leader in digital printing technology, announced today that it has donated a fully configured "see-through" HC5500 high-speed inkjet printer along with service and supplies to the Museum of Printing in Andover, MA. Specially designed with clear "see-through" front, rear and top panels, the RISO HC5500 will serve as an educational display to the Museum's over 3,000 yearly visitors. In addition, the RISO HC5500 will be a working printer for staff to produce all of the Museum's external communications that require full color and variable data.
"We are so grateful to RISO for the donation of a state-of-the art HC5500 high-speed inkjet printer," said Frank Romano, President of the Museum of Printing and Professor Emeritus at Rochester Institute of Technology. "RISO's generous gift will serve as a unique interactive exhibit for our visitors and a productive printer for our entire staff of volunteers."
Founded in 1979, the Museum of Printing is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is dedicated to preserving the history of the graphic arts, printing equipment and printing craftsmanship. In addition to its many collections and exhibits, the Museum also contains hundreds of antique printing, typesetting and bindery machines, as well as a library of books, ephemera and printing related documents. The "see-through" HC5500 display will be unveiled during a 30th anniversary event at the Museum on Friday, November 13th.
"RISO is very supportive of the Museum's mission to preserve and teach today's printing practices and the industry's history," said David Murphy, Vice President of Marketing for RISO, Inc. "We also see the 'see-through' HC5500 printer as an opportunity to showcase the future of printing, which will be driven by full-color, high-speed and cost-efficient solutions."
RISO's HC5500, along with RISO's newly launched ComColor series, are considered the world's fastest cut-sheet inkjet printers. The HC5500 can print at speeds of up to 120 pages per minute (ppm) and has a robust paper handling system for volumes of up to 500,000 pages per month. The no-heat system offers increased reliability and a small-footprint at a low cost.
