Hexion launches green resin technology for offset ink makers

Press release from the issuing company

COLUMBUS – Facilitating the printing industry's transition to more bio-based and environmentally advanced ink products, Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc. is now offering a new resin platform for offset inks under its ECO-REZ brand name that contains up to 12% higher renewable content than prior products. In addition the new family of resins and varnishes does not contain phenol.

The enhanced ECO-REZ platform offers offset ink makers a variety of options to improve their green profile while meeting their specific production requirements. Whether they make their own varnish and just require resin, make dry grind pigment and only need a dispersing vehicle, or want to develop a total resin/varnish solution, manufacturers can choose from a variety of environmentally suitable product alternatives. Besides the high-performing, rosin-based ECOREZ resins, product offerings include a new line of ECO-SET sheetfed and ECO-WEB web offset varnishes based on the ECO-REZ technology.

The new family of ECO-REZ products provides outstanding rheological stability, excellent ink to water balance and sharp print image during high speed and long press runs. The entire line is also available globally so manufacturers can respond to individual market interest in greener products as it develops and demand grows by region.

"As our customers work to develop cleaner and more sustainable products, we are committed to leading the way," says Chris Halvorsen, global marketing manager, Ink Resins. "The new ECO-REZ technology provides the printing industry with a cost-effective, globally available solution to help them advance their sustainability programs."
