Standard announces new product installations

Andover, MA – Standard Finishing Systems announces the following new product installations:

Printing X-Press, based in Houston, TX recently increased their post-press efficiency with the addition of a Standard Horizon StitchLiner 5500 saddlestitching system with in-line three-knife trimmer, and a Standard Horizon AFC-564A automated floor model folder.  "When we saw the StitchLiner, we saw a chance to increase our productivity, due to the ultra-fast automated set-ups and the ability to load 4-page or flat sheet signatures directly into the StitchLiner, helping us to avoid the need to off-line signature fold" said Tad Molloy, Owner, Printing X-Press.   Since installation the fast changeover times and productivity of the system have enabled Printing X-Press to dramatically increase the number of saddlestitching jobs they can efficiently process each day.  The AFC-564A Folder was purchased to provide quick setups and changeovers, especially for shorter-run work.  The sale was completed by Standard dealer LSS Digital of Houston, Texas.  Printing X-Press, founded in 1979, is a full-service commercial printer that provides graphic design and prepress, offset printing, and bindery & finishing services.  

Goodcopy Printing and Digital Graphics in New Haven, Connecticut recently added a new Standard Horizon AFC-566FKT automated floor-model paper folder to their full-service bindery. The folder's intelligent, icon-based color touchscreen provides quick, easy and automated set-up, and allows for instant recall of regular jobs from memory.  "This automated folder has been a real time-saver for us," said company president Lou Goldberg.  "I can't imagine going back to a manual machine." The sale was completed by Standard dealer A.L. Larsen of Wilmington, Massachusetts.  Goodcopy is family-owned and recently celebrated their fortieth anniversary providing quality commercial printing, digital printing, finishing and graphic arts services to the greater-New Haven business and university communities.  

Family Folder Inc., of Norcross, Georgia recently added a new Standard Horizon CABS 4000 Perfect Binding System to their full-service bindery. The nine-clamp binder's fully automated binding and three-knife trimming system features ultra-fast make-ready and changeovers, with advanced control technology. "The very high level of automation, for quick changeovers and short-run efficiency, makes us very competitive in this marketplace" said company president Bong Yeo. "The ability to produce books from cut sheet book blocks as well as signatures also gives us application flexibility." Merrill Corporation recently added four new Standard Hunkeler lines to their Grove City, Ohio print operation, including two Standard Hunkeler Roll-to-cut and Roll-to-roll Combi lines running in-line with Océ 8750 printers. Additionally, Merrill is the first company to install the recently released Standard Horizon StitchLiner 6000 Digital saddlestitching system equipped with Standard Hunkeler Roll-to-cut technology. "These systems enable us to automate our post-press workflow so that we can provide greater flexibility and faster turn times for our clients", said Jeffrey Weiss, Merrill's vice president of technology and 25-year veteran in the print industry.
