Russia's Komsomolskaya Pravda selects WoodWing's Enterprise Publishing System

Press release from the issuing company

Zaandam, The Netherlands - Komsomolskaya Pravda, one of Russia's biggest and most popular newspapers, has chosen to replace their aging publishing system with WoodWing's Enterprise Publishing System. The implementation phase will be initiated shortly.

Komsomolskaya Pravda, with a monthly circulation of about 35 million copies and a daily readership of over 3.5 million people, is currently distributed in 53 countries worldwide.

WoodWing's client application Content Station has played an important role during the selection process. Content Station provides the user with one central environment for the creation and publication of high-quality content to print, Web and radio since Komsomolskaya Pravda has its own radio station.

"The user-friendliness of Content Station allows us to shorten material's workflow and to concentrate journalist's efforts on the work with several products at the same time. This was a very important factor in the decision," said Andrey Dyatlov, deputy editor-in-chief, executive secretary of the newspaper.

"One of the problems which is going to be solved during WoodWing's system integration is an automation of the routine prepress processes of print file generation and preflight check, as well as their transfer to the press", said Ilya Korshunov, deputy CIO of Komsomolskaya Pravda. "By this moment, it was basically manual operation and we believe   that the new system will reduce the manual labor and increase the quality of the production."

"Due to the openness of the system, installation and maintenance is much easier than we expected," commented Andrey Petrov, CIO of the newspaper. "We also expect a smooth and quick integration with our existing Web CMS."

"Because of the size of this operation, involving over 200 seats, we've looked closely to the total cost of ownership for our new solution," said Alexander Chepel, executive vice-president of Komsomolskaya Pravda, "and WoodWing turned out to be the best performer there, too."

Komsomolskaya Pravda produces several daily newspapers and weekly journals. Regional branches of Komsomolskay Pravda are open in all the big cities in Russia and CIS. At first, WoodWing's system will be implemented in the Moscow branch of Komsomolskay Pravda. Following the integration results, the decision on project development on other editions and regional branches will be accepted.

"We're extremely proud to have an important newspaper like Komsomolskaya Pravda select our software," said Manfred Witteman, responsible for WoodWing sales in Eastern Europe. "Russia is a very competitive market that WoodWing entered only three years ago. I congratulate our Russian Integrator NBZ with this great achievement."
