EPP wins CIPPI award for the world's first MIS to perfect binder

Press release from the issuing company

PRINT '09 – Technique Group was awarded the CIPPI award, from CIP4 organization for - Best Process Automation Implementation - Emerging Markets; on behalf of their customer Emirates Printing Press of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

EPP runs Technique's full MIS solution and are one of the largest printers in the region; with approximately 700 staff and 12 sheet fed & 3 web presses on the production floor.

Thyagarajan Balasubramainyam (Rajan); Emirates Printing Press (EPP) – "This type of award is very important for our business; it shows our philosophy of implementing technology allows us to lead in the industry. We dedicate this award to our customers and employees of the organization."

Paul Cooper, CEO Technique – "We are very proud of the achievement of our customer EPP, their commitment to advancing automation is a true testament to success."

This CIPPI was awarded for the following reasons:
Integration between Müller Martini and Technique
Prior to the integration EPP had modern software and equipment from Kodak, Heidelberg, Enfocus, GMG, Komori, manroland, Muller Martini and Epson yet …
        - All job details were keyed in by the operator at each machine.
        - Job costing information was captured manually
Emirates had to resolve production bottlenecks to keep up with increased demand.
JDF allows fully automatic setup of the machines, which provides significant labor savings and allows more scheduling flexibility, as make-ready is dramatically reduced so changing product sizes from job to job has much less impact.
Automated all aspects of production (with some post-press operations remaining to be completed)
Reduced administrative processing costs by 15 %.
Reduced cost of data collection by 90 %
Reduced job cost processing by 10 %
Reduced analytical reporting time by 75 %.

Peter Doyle, Workflow Manager; Muller Martini – "We have many customers using our solutions around the world, as a first of its kind with a dedicated MIS system like Technique, this will be the first of many to come in the future."

Muller Martini was awarded the CIPPI in conjunction with Technique for connectivity to the Corona– C15 perfect binder and PrimaPlus saddle stitcher through the utilization of JDF.

Technique Group has a long standing relationship with CIP4 Organization; and continue their commitment through participating in initiatives such as CIPPI Awards, JDF Roadmap and Marketplace and of course the JDF Users group conferences held in conjunction with Printing Industries of America.
