Montreal, Canada – February 28, 2007. PAT Technology Systems Inc announced an enhanced configuration of its most recent and most notable product called Varstar. Varstar’s new format can accept a wider paper size range and is now available at a lower cost. Three configurations are now available. Varstar’s enhancements will be showcased at the ON Demand 2007 exhibition in Boston (booth 1763). Varstar is a sheet-fed digital UV Coater which features what PAT Technology Systems Inc. calls True Digital Coating (TDC) Technology. TDC is a non-contact digital UV coating process using state of the art inkjet technology. TDC eliminates plates or blankets for spot or pattern coating and reduces fluid waste. It is also capable of producing matte through to gloss finishes on a single pass. Unique, high value, “on the fly” finishes can be achieved with a simple graphic file. The company reports high interest from the targeted digital print market. However, many enquiries from other segments of the market had come in sooner than had been anticipated by the Montreal based company. Motivated by the favorable market response, PAT executed its plans to make Varstar more accessible and flexible, slightly ahead of schedule. “Varstar was unveiled at last year’s Graph Expo 2006,”said Paul Hebert, PAT’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “It was an unusually successful product launch. Several units were quickly sold to digital printers. Valuable feedback from other printing markets also poured in as result of the show.” “Acceptance of TDC technology was so broad and profound that we decided to advance our plans for the production of a more flexible and lower priced Varstar platform,” said James Koehler, PAT’s Head of Product Development. “Our success has always been strongly linked to listening and learning from our customers,” said Wayne Baird, President and CEO of PAT Technology Systems Inc. Varstar is now available in three basic configurations. All the configurations have integrated feeders and stackers which can handle sheet sizes of 8”x 8” to 24”x 30”. However, the three distinct models, Varstar M5, M6, and M8 have maximum imaging widths of 13.8”, 16.6” and 22.2” respectively. In addition, all Varstar models can operate with an expanded range of paper thicknesses – 3pt. all the way up to 24pt. The full-featured Varstar M5 is priced at an affordable $150,000.00.
