Williamson County Sun, a family owned semi-weekly newspaper in Georgetown, Texas, has ordered two Goss Community SSC stacked units to be added to its existing Community SSC press. The new addition will convert an existing two-high tower into a four-high configuration that will enable the printer to produce back-to-back four color work more effectively.

Besides printing the publisher's own newspaper, which has a circulation of 10,000 copies, the press is also used for printing four other weekly newspapers and several school newspapers.

Clark Thurmond, publisher of Williamson County Sun, explains the reason for this investment. "We are currently 'S-wrapping' for color on front and back pages with only the back available for color ads. If we have too many color orders we have to split the paper into three sections to get enough color spots. This often means an extra run on the inserter. Adding two units will give us two more pages of color spots for advertisements, basically tripling the available revenue color, allowing us to run bigger sections."

Goss International regional sales manager, Sam Pernice adds, "The modular design of Community SSC presses make unit or tower additions an easy solution to meet changing printing requirements without having to invest in a brand new press. In this case, the additional stack units will allow the customer to offer its readers and advertisers a more attractive newspaper, while at the same time lightening the load on their inserter. We are pleased that Williamson County Sun has chosen to work with us on this expansion project."

Installation of the new units will take place in the second quarter of 2009.
