Japs-Olson Announces Switch to Metrix

Press release from the issuing company

Phoenix, Arizona -- LithoTechnics Inc., developer of Metrix, the intelligent, automated job planning and imposition system, announced today that Japs-Olson Company has completed their training and deployment of one of the largest installations of Metrix in North America. Japs-Olson hosted the recent JDF User Group at their state-of-the-art facilities in St. Louis Park, MN, and took the opportunity to present some of their findings relative to Metrix and their campaign to automate using JDF.

Rohan Holt, President of LithoTechnics, observed, "Japs-Olson is known for many things, including their excellent craftsmanship, their know-how in implementing the latest advances in automated print manufacturing, and their careful research and thorough analysis before making any purchasing decisions. It is especially gratifying when printers of this stature choose Metrix after putting it through its paces."

Josh Schiro, Prepress Manager of Japs-Olson said, "We've been hearing good things about Metrix for years now, and we are happy to find out first-hand that they are all true." Schiro continued, "We've been using UpFront for a number of years but came to the conclusion that it didn't meet our needs. We had four criteria for a new job planning and imposition system: (1) the solution had to be easier to use than UpFront; (2) one program had to do everything, that is, it had to replace the two modules of UpFront and also Preps; (3) we had to have confidence in the future of the technology and the product; and (4) it had to have more robust JDF for the finishing department. Metrix met all our criteria and then some." Schiro added, "Fujifilm has also done a fine job explaining the benefits of Metrix and then getting us up and running in a very short time – their support has been outstanding."

The Metrix family includes Metrix Commercial, Metrix Max, Metrix X-8 and Metrix X-80, targeted at different segments of the commercial print market. All editions are available on Mac OS X and Windows, and all automatically plan and impose flat, folded, and bound work. All editions can import JDF and export imposed PDF. Select editions also export various forms of JDF for prepress and finishing. The Metrix family is available in English, German, Spanish, French, and Simplified Chinese.
