Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- Simutek AB's GKS, version 3.50, was approved by the International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) as being JDF-certified on March 9, 2009 after going through rigorous testing by Printing Industries of America, CIP4's official certification body.

Simutek AB, headquartered in Sollentuna, Sweden, is the manufacturer and vendor of GKS, a business application for the printing industry. They have more than twenty years experience working with the printing industry and have a unique competency in understanding, supporting, and integrating the industry's business processes with GKS, and they have been dedicated to JDF development since 2004.

Simutek AB received certification for their MIS to prepress ICS and MIS to conventional printing ICS. "GKS 3.50 is a very easy product to test and run. I was very pleased with the display interface for event messaging and their costing screen is simple but full of information and easy to understand," commented Brandon Iskey, computational research scientist at Printing Industries of America.

"By receiving JDF certification, Simutek AB's customers are given the assurance that their entire workflow will run smoothly throughout the entire printing process, and this endorses Simutek AB's commitment to JDF and their integration with other partners, " said  Dr. Mark Bohan, vice president, technology and research, Printing Industries of America.

Interoperability of workflows and equipment is essential for increased productivity in print production. JDF (Job Definition Format) is an open industry standard developed and managed by the CIP4 organization in order to simplify information exchange between different applications and systems in and around the graphic arts industry.
