Polestar Chromoworks Awarded ISO 14001

Press release from the issuing company

Polestar Chromoworks has become the latest company in the group to be awarded ISO 14001 accreditation.

Over the last six-twelve months, the Nottingham-based company has reviewed its processes and operations to identify those that could have an impact on the environment, and systems have been put in place to minimise any detrimental effect. Polestar Chromoworks Managing Director Peter Greaves says: "All employees on site have received environmental awareness training and understand the importance of this, so I am delighted for all of us that our hard work has paid off. It is a worthwhile accreditation because it demonstrates that we are serious about our commitment to environment, which is important for customers, colleagues and suppliers alike."

A significant amount of time was spent reviewing waste streams, especially general waste, and this has resulted in Polestar Chromoworks being able to reduce its general waste, as more waste has been segregated and recycled. The remaining general waste is now collected in 1100 litre bins which are emptied by Nottingham City Council and the waste is incinerated to provide power for certain areas of the city. Peter Greaves continues: "It is this sort of initiative where you see some real benefits and we are grateful to Nottingham City Council for their support."

Polestar Chromoworks becomes the fourth company in the group to have ISO 14001 status. Sheffield, Petty and Chantry received the accreditation in January 2007, June 2008 and February 2009 respectively.
