New Color Desktop Printers from Konica Minolta

Press release from the issuing company

Ramsey, N.J. - Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today unveiled a new line of compact, affordable desktop color printers and All-In-Ones (AIOs) for use in the small office/home office marketplace.  The new magicolor 1600 Series, which comprises two AIOs and two printers, ranks among the smallest-sized printers offered in the entire industry, and marks the smallest and lowest-priced color laser printers ever offered from Konica Minolta.

The magicolor 1600W, magicolor 1650EN, magicolor 1680MF, and magicolor 1690MF present affordable alternatives for users looking to upgrade from their existing inkjet printers, or require a smaller color laser printer that can fit into virtually any situation.  The magicolor 1600 Series of color printers and AIOs are versatile, environmentally friendly, and won't interrupt a conversation while printing, as they print at only 50 decibels, and when on standby mode, emit as much noise as a whisper, at 29 decibels.  All print at 20 pages per minute (ppm) black-and-white and five ppm in color.

"The magicolor 1600 Series provides our small office/home customers with printers offering high quality color output at an affordable price," said Kevin Kern, vice president, marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S. A., Inc.  "The newest magicolor printers and AIOs also present another choice for inkjet users who are looking to upgrade to laser printing for their professional or personal needs."

magicolor 1600 Series
With its sleek stylish design, competitive cost per page and small workspace and footprint, this new line is perfect for medium-sized businesses, marketing departments and small workgroups.  The magicolor 1600 Series prints at full speed regardless of the print resolution chosen, and provides a low cost per page even when using high quality options resulting in remarkable total cost of ownership (TCO).

magicolor 1600W and 1650EN
The magicolor 1600W and 1650EN use Konica Minolta Simitri HD (High-Definition) color polymerized toner, a second-generation version of the company's signature toner, reformulated to meet the needs of the high quality printing market.  With minimal noise levels and eco-friendly features, such as low energy consumption and economy mode printing for reduced cost per page, the magicolor 1600 Series produces quality color without sacrificing quality.  Using the Simitri HD color polymerized toner alone saves up to 15 percent of the energy usually required for laser printing.  Furthermore, its emissions are about 40 percent below those of conventional toner.

magicolor 1680MF and magicolor 1690MF
For those customers who would like to upgrade from their existing inkjet multifunction printer while combining several essential office functions to save time, space and money, the magicolor 1680MF and magicolor 1690MF color printers are the perfect choices.  The magicolor 1680MF and magicolor 1690MF offer affordability and outstanding print quality along with a small, compact design to fit into small workspaces.  Businesses requiring professional, high-quality documents can save money and time by using the magicolor 1680MF or magicolor 1690MF as an integral part of the document production cycle – copy or scan source materials, annotate and fax draft documents for review, and print final documents in brilliant, attention-getting color.

Pricing and Availability
The magicolor 1600 Series is available now through Konica Minolta's North American direct sales, authorized dealer and value-added reseller channels.  The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the magicolor 1600W is $229, magicolor 1650EN is $329, magicolor 1680MF is $379, and the magicolor 1690MF is $449.
