Lenzing selected as finalist in PPI Awards 2009

Press release from the issuing company

Austrian-based paper manufacturer Lenzing Papier has been shortlisted for the Environmental Strategy of the Year (Company) award in the Pulp and Paper International (PPI) Awards 2009. The PPI Awards are the only global awards dedicated to recognizing achievements in this sector.

The winners will be presented with their trophies at the PPI Awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 at the Hilton Munich Park Hotel in Munich, Germany.

Established more than 100 years ago, Lenzing Papier is one of the leading manufacturers of recycled paper, poster and envelope paper.

Lenzing has long been a forerunner in new technology and developments in paper, the environment and sustainability. The production plant in the Salzkammergut region of Austria maintains an ecological production process which is kind to the environment, whilst its energy sources are another high environmental factor. Pulp is purchased under a sustainable procurement policy and recycled fibre is incorporated into the production process.

In September last year Lenzing announced the launch of Impact – billed as the one of the first CO2 neutral recycled papers to be produced by a European paper manufacturer. Impact is a carbon neutral paper produced from 100% recycled fibre.

Commenting on Lenzing's award nomination, General Manager Ernst Brunbauer said, "Our whole tea, at Lenzing is very excited about the nomination in recognition for years of dedicated work."

Mark Rushton, Editor of PPI Magazine said, "We would like to congratulate Lenzing and all of the companies who have been shortlisted as finalists. We are excited about the high quality of entries received for the inaugural PPI Events program and look forward to announcing the winners at the gala dinner in Munich in October."

Lenzing's exclusive paper agent in the UK is the Yorkshire-based agency Papico.
Lenzing's paper is also stocked by Robert Horne(Revive) and Howard Smith(Greencoat). This is in folio sheets. Both also have significant indent business in reels and sheets.
