Baldwin Selected for Middle East Upgrade Project

Press release from the issuing company

Shelton, Conn. – Baldwin Technology Company, Inc., a leader in process automation technology for the global printing industry, announced today that it has received an order for approximately $1.3 million.

Gulf Printing and Publishing Company (GPPC) has ordered Baldwin blanket washers for its existing CROMOMAN semi-commercial presses. This order was secured in cooperation with the German printing press manufacturer manroland. Completion of the installation and commissioning of Baldwin's cleaning equipment is scheduled for March 2010.

Baldwin President and CEO Karl Puehringer said, "This order provides an example of Baldwin's successful focus on expanding our global reach into emerging print markets. Increasingly, publishers and printers like GPPC are using their presses for newspaper as well as semi-commercial print production. By retrofitting their presses with Baldwin blanket washer technology, they are able to increase capacity and efficiency by reducing job downtime and reducing paper waste while maintaining a superior level of print quality."

Gulf Printing and Publishing was founded in 1978. It is the publisher of an Arabic newspaper, Arrayah, as well as of the daily English newspaper Gulf Times. The newspaper dominates the English language market in Qatar, with about an 80% market share.
