Mitsubishi Releases Affordable CtP For Newspaper Printers

Press release from the issuing company

RYE, NY – Mitsubishi Imaging, the leader in paper and polyester plate systems, today announced it has released the Digital NewsPro System, an affordable computer-to-plate (CTP) solution designed specifically for short run newspapers, pennysavers and book printing.

The Digital NewsPro System is a complete computer-to-plate solution which integrates the proven plate technology of Silver DigiPlate with a Katana platesetter, plate bender and lock-ups designed perfectly to meet the requirements of newspaper presses including the Goss Community press.

“As more manufacturers eliminate their film production, newspaper printers need to explore CTP as a platemaking option, but with the decline in advertising and subscription rates, adding new costs to production just isn’t economically feasible,” said Catherine Cartolano, Vice President of Sales at Mitsubishi Imaging. “The Digital NewsPro system enables them to implement CTP immediately and still save thousands of dollars in materials, time and labor.”

In production for over 23 years, Silver DigiPlate has become the industry standard for high-quality plate material.  Silver DigiPlate technology helped spark the CTP revolution and within the last few years has become more widely adopted by newspaper printers.  By moving to CTP a newspaper printer can completely eliminate manual platemaking steps including output of film and stripping.  The time savings are immediate and dramatic as pages are laid-out on the computer and sent directly to the platemaker.  Plates come out in perfect register eliminating any opportunity for manual errors.

“We have a more profitable business today because we installed computer-to-plate by Mitsubishi Imaging,” said Alan Baker, owner of The Ellsworth American. “Their Digital NewsPro system has changed the whole character of our organization and helped us to grow.”

Mitsubishi Imaging has been providing newspapers with CTP for more than ten years and is the industry leader for CTP polyester and paper plates with the Silver DigiPlate System.

Today many CTP installations are non-metal, and Mitsubishi Imaging’s Silver DigiPlate has the lion’s share of the non-metal plate market. With the quality of metal at a fraction of the price, Mitsubishi Silver DigiPlate is widely used for color printing applications.
