New GMG profiles available for PaC.Space

Press release from the issuing company

Tuebingen -- GMG, developer and supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, announces it is providing new proof profiles for PaC.Space, available for GMG ProofPaper semimatte and GMG ProofPaper gloss 250 media. The new GMG standard profiles were created for Epson Stylus Pro x800, x880 and x900 as well as for HP Designjet Z3200 printers. New GMG ProofControl standards are also available for download.

At drupa 2008, PaC.Space was presented to experts as the first common color standard for gravure package printing. In contrast to offset printing, there had been no standard for gravure packaging. PaC.Space is able to resolve this. The idea of a common color space is the result of a project by the Pro Gravure workgroup of ERA, the European Rotogravure Association, steered by GMG and Janoschka, the largest cylinder house in Europe.

The objective of PaC.Space is to merge the processes of prepress data preparation for the print form. PaC.Space is a general gravure packaging color space that allows a defined interface from supplied prepress data to process-specific or printer-specific requirements. Experience has shown that repro is often conducted before knowing which print process will be applied to a package. The final print data has to be reworked to fit the individual requirements of the target process, resulting in unnecessary time and costs. PaC.Space supports a color space and workflow that allows for a digital proof close to the final result of the press, even during the early stages of the production process. The handling of the data is all done in PaC.Space.

PaC.Space covers CMYK process colors, supplying both the colorimetric description of its color space and profiles for ICC or GMG standards for color space conversions into other printing standards. Along with considerable prepress time and cost savings, the result is improved quality of the production process and increased customer confidence.
