Stafford Printing Installs Presstek PathWay

Press release from the issuing company

Hudson, NH – January 12, 2009 – Presstek, Inc, a leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing solutions, today announced that Stafford Printing of Stafford, Virginia, has recently installed Presstek PathWay to enhance its ability to serve customers by providing a fully-functional Web-to-print service. Stafford Printing has 14 employees and generates revenues of about $2.5 million. The company was also an early adopter of Presstek chemistry-free platemaking, and is currently using Presstek Aurora Pro chemistry-free grained, anodized aluminum plates.

"We are in a period of dynamic change in this industry," said Howard Owen, Owner of Stafford Printing, "and it can be somewhat intimidating.  However, we invest time and effort in staying current with trends, and in adjusting our business practices to stay ahead of them.  A recent newsletter published by a print buyers' organization cited Web-to-print as one of the key attributes of a 'qualified' printer.  That set us on the path to becoming Web-enabled, and Presstek PathWay was the solution that best met our needs."

Owen reports that he had just launched PathWay Web-to-print services with his first customer when he received a call from a key customer informing him they had received a national directive that they needed to migrate their print buying to the Web. "This was fortuitous timing for us," says Owen. "The fact that we already had PathWay up and running and were able to send this customer a demo link within a day impressed them.  Not only did we keep their business, but now we are competing for all of their business cards and stationery nationwide, which could represent a 20% increase in revenue for us.  Clearly, as we look out to 2009, all of us must be thinking about how to make our operations more efficient and attractive to customers.  I believe for a printing business to remain viable in 2009 and beyond, it must have Web-to-print available.  Presstek PathWay is an affordable, highly scalable Web-to-print solution, powered by Press-sense. This complete, Web-based, end-to-end print-on-demand workflow and management solution allows users to create, customize, order, print and deliver in one streamlined, integrated operation.  In addition to the basic PathWay platform, add-on modules are available for extra functionality, making this powerful solution scalable from small shops to large, complex operations.  PathWay is available in an ASP, self-hosted or multisite configuration.  Ease-of-entry options have a well-defined upgrade path that allows the solution to grow as the user's business grows without the need for an expensive platform change.

"Howard is a good example of a forward-looking business owner who is taking the right steps to keep his business capable, profitable and competitive," said John Flynn, Presstek Product Sales Manager, Workflow.  "He has systematically worked through his business processes to keep them up to date with the latest technologies, and implementing PathWay was another critical step along that path."
