Press release from the issuing company

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Baker & Taylor, Inc., the world's largest distributor of physical and digital books and entertainment products, today announced that RR Donnelley, the world's premier provider of print and print-related services, has been chosen to establish and manage a Digital Print on Demand Center in Baker & Taylor’s Momence, Ill. distribution and value-added services center. This on-site facility will combine with other RR Donnelley Digital Print Facilities to provide industry-leading digital print and bind capabilities for Baker & Taylor’s publisher partners and for its clients across multiple industries worldwide.

“Selecting RR Donnelley as our Print on Demand provider is another example of Baker & Taylor's ongoing strategy to partner with best-of-breed technology providers that offer new value added products and services to our suppliers and to our customer base,” said Tom Morgan, CEO of Baker & Taylor. “Our new Print on Demand platform strengthens our ability to drive efficiencies within our physical and digital distribution platform."

The Print on Demand Platform, slated to launch in early September, gives Baker & Taylor suppliers worldwide an easier way to manage their inventory and allows customers to order inventoried product with on-demand books via one order entry system.  Put simply, libraries, book sellers and publishers can rest assured that Baker & Taylor will get into readers' hands the titles they want – from best sellers to classics to lesser-known works – when they want them.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen by Baker & Taylor to use our digital print-on-demand capabilities to help reinvent the book supply chain," said Thomas J. Quinlan III, RR Donnelley's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to putting our new digital print delivery model to work for Baker & Taylor as they offer their customers the opportunity to order only the books they need, when they need them, in quantities from one to thousands."

"As book production continues to move to an on-demand model, Baker & Taylor is well positioned to manage this migration for our publishers and our clients,” said Bob Nelson, Baker & Taylor’s Executive Vice President of Global Business Development.  “We are excited to bring an enhanced on-demand model for ordering books through Baker & Taylor's systems, which are used daily by more than 40,000 customers worldwide.”

The collaboration with RR.Donnelley is Baker & Taylor's latest step in bringing comprehensive Digital Media Services to market, solidifying its position as the provider of choice for physical and digital media distribution. This new and robust Print on Demand platform enhances Baker & Taylor's service offerings for publishers, maximizing the revenue generated from their intellectual property, while lowering their costs of warehousing, freight, inventory and product obsolescence.
