Caldera Integrates X-Rite's i1Prism technology

Press release from the issuing company

Grand Rapids, MI, USA and Strasbourg, France -- X-Rite, Incorporated, the world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies, and Caldera, a French leader in RIP and workflow technology for the signage market, today announced that Caldera has become the first company to integrate i1Prism -X-Rite's next generation color management technology- into EasyMedia, Caldera's color management, calibration and profile making solution for the signage and wide format digital imaging markets.

Building on its already powerful and highly accurate color reproduction engine for large format printers, EasyMedia with i1Prism now features some of X-Rite's most advanced technology including advanced color separation and black generation. With this new release of EasyMedia, X-Rite and Caldera continue to build on their long term and fruitful OEM partnership, as Sébastien Hanssens, Vice President of Marketing at Caldera explains:
"Partnering with X-Rite was a significant strategic decision for Caldera. After a thorough evaluation of color management technologies in the market, we felt that X-Rite offered the best color control capabilities to complement our solutions. With the production cost of printing signs ever increasing, there is a very real and immediate need for fast, effective and accurate color processes in the wide format market, and together with X-Rite we can now offer an unrivalled color management strategy to our signage and wide format customers."

With the integration of i1Prism, EasyMedia users can now expand their access to state-of-the-art profiling technology to allow tight workflow integration with prepress and printing systems.

EasyMedia makes use of i1Prism's advanced controls for separation and black generation, allowing greater flexibility when building profiles, and providing a high degree of control to the user when building custom profiles.  Although ICC profiles are generally built so that the output will be viewed under D50 illumination conditions, i1Prism technology is designed to optimize the ICC profiles for different viewing conditions including daylight, tungsten, fluorescent lighting, among others – allowing wide format customers to simulate actual viewing conditions before going to production.

This latest release of EasyMedia complements previously-integrated X-Rite ProfileMaker technology for ICC profile generation in EasyMedia, in addition to Caldera's technologies including linearization capability, and ink limit transitions.
"Caldera's inclusion of our i1Prism technology into EasyMedia is the latest result of our long standing and very fruitful partnership," comments Brunella Fornasari, X-Rite's worldwide OEM business development manager. "Already tightly integrated with X-Rite's i1iO automated chart readers, and PANTONE color matching systems, EasyMedia is a natural fit with our color profiling solutions."

This newest version of EasyMedia is available immediately from Caldera.  In addition, customers can also benefit from other bundled offerings including Caldera's EasyMedia software with X-Rite's award-winning i1Display 2 and i1Pro spectrophotometers, Pantone's color matching systems, as well as X-Rite's i1iO automated chart reader which allows users to measure substrates up to 10mm thick – a real benefit for the wide format market.
