Frazier Secures Standardization and Ugra PSO12647 Certification

Press release from the issuing company

Lyon -- Alwan Color Expertise has helped Paris-based printer, Frazier, achieve successful Standardization and Ugra PSO12647 Certification by using the company’s innovative PDF Standardizer and Print Standardizer.

The Alwan standardization solutions, which were developed jointly with Enfocus and X-Rite, put an end to lengthy and tedious working sessions that required expertise, state-of-the-art settings and high costs. Implementation of both solutions result in having all PDF files and presses automatically standardized, with practically no human intervention offering a guaranteed return on investment of less than six months.

Immediate ISO 12647 compliancy
Both standardizing solutions - PDF Standardizer and Print Standardizer - were recently implemented at a pilot site – Paris-based printer, Frazier –  with the goal to make all PDF files received in prepress and the printer’s three presses compliant with ISO 12647 standards.

PDF Standardizer and Print Standardizer have ensured immediately a daily compliancy to these standards for each and every job carried out – and all with no human intervention. Only one month after the solutions were installed, Frazier achieved Ugra PSO certification according to ISO 12647 Certification.

Sylvain Malinge, Quality Manager at Frazier, confirms: “PDF and Print Standardizer have been running in production for just a few months now but already we’re seeing a significant drop in our job production time.  PDF Standardizer immediately detects any error in a PDF, repairs it where possible or exits the job before it enters the production workflow. All of our production PDF files are now compliant with ISO 12647-2 as well as PDF/X1-a standards, which makes it really easy and fast for our prepress system to ‘digest’ them without any risk of color or transparency interpretation error.”

Mr. Malinge continues: “With Print Standardizer, the make-ready time has dropped from more than 600 sheets to as low as 250-300 sheets. Our clients really appreciate the time savings. Thanks to Print Standardizer, print production is under permanent control, which is impossible to do manually.”

Elie Khoury, CEO and founder of Alwan, is pleased with the success of the solutions and the benefits it has brought to Frazier. “Alwan has a proven record for successful color management and standardization implementations in a huge variety of sites worldwide. We offer the industry reliability, quality and profitability – assurances that are very welcome in today’s challenging climate.

Our solutions are the result of years of experience in printed color management and standardization, from PDF to final print. PDF Standardizer and Print Standardizer greatly simplify the ISO implementation process – it no longer requires dedicated people, time for manual quality control of incoming files and final prints, tedious corrections and reporting etc. The cost of ISO 12647 implementation is now affordable thanks to these solutions.”

Industrialized standardization
For the past 12 years, Alwan has dedicated all its resources to bringing easy and affordable standardization software to the graphics industry.
The new solutions, PDF Standardizer and Print Standardizer, make standardization easier than ever before, freeing users completely from the hassle and constraints of daily quality control.

As soon as they are installed, PDF Standardizer standardizes the PDF workflow input, while Print Standardizer standardizes the presses output – automatically, efficiently and reliably for every job.  Depending on the size of the company, a guaranteed return on investment can be realized between two and six months later.

Implementing standards in a revolutionary way
The know-how of Alwan Color Expertise, combined with that of its partners – Enfocus for PDF Standardizer, and X-Rite for Print Standardizer – is the result of years of research and successful implementations of standards in prepress and print houses.

Automatic standardization of workflows and presses in just a few minutes is an unprecedented opportunity and one not to be missed by any company in the graphics industry.  The industrialization of standards implementation has started and is quickly gaining momentum, with Alwan’s solutions bringing easy, affordable and open standardization to the industry. Industrialized standardization will enable companies to communicate in better conditions, regardless of their material or tools, and will boost profitability and the quality of their productions.

Alwan is a standardizing pioneer and has received numerous industry awards, the latest being the PIA/GATF Intertech Award in 2008 for its DeviceLinks technology. The company’s solutions have been successfully implemented in print houses of all types and sizes worldwide.
