PDI purchases manroland 900XXL press

Monday, September 14, 2009

Press release from the issuing company

manroland today announced the purchase of a ROLAND 900XXL press by Canadian printer Phipps Dickson Integria (PDI).  The Montreal based printer expects to have the 56-inch 6-color press with coater ready for commercial operation the first week of October.

Gaetano DiTrapani, Chief Operating Officer at PDI, said he was impressed by the operation of the ROLAND 900XXL and the functionality it has to offer.

"Our first encounter with this large format press was at several installations that we had visited in Germany and last year at drupa," recalled Di Trapani.  "We've also had the opportunity to view it at another printer in Canada and at manroland's Print Technology Center in Chicago.  manroland has an excellent reputation within this market segment and we decided to purchase the press for two primary reasons.  First, we believe it will more efficiently accommodate our existing work in the     publishing field that is currently produced on 40-inch presses.  Second, it will    provide us access to a very specific market within the large format work sector."

PDI has just consolidated its manufacturing plants in LaSalle and St. Laurent to a new, state-of-the-art facility located in Kirkland, Quebec.  The purchase of the  ROLAND 900XXL represents the first manroland press acquisition by PDI, and it is being installed in the new facility.
