Pageflex and Choice Software deliver integrated web-to-print to CPS Printing and Cordius Group

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL - Pageflex, a division of Bitstream Inc. and a leading developer of enterprise variable data publishing and web-to-print solutions, and Choice Software, a system integrator for the printing industry, announced today that CPS Printing in Carlsbad, CA, one of the nation's fastest growing commercial print enterprises, has successfully implemented an integrated production workflow that automatically transfers data between their online logistics solution, cor-Port (powered by Pageflex Storefront), and their MIS platform. The bi-directional integration was developed by Choice Software utilizing their ChoiceICE connector product, which eliminates manual data entry by digitally transferring order, job, and shipping information between the two systems.

"We are pleased that Pageflex and Choice Software have provided a solution to improve our workflow. It has been a very positive experience," comments Danice Ruscigno, accounting manager at CPS Printing. "As our online marketing logistics customer base has grown, it has become essential for us to remove steps in our workflow to maintain profit margins and improve efficiencies. ChoiceICE enables us to do this. We are saving time and effort in a number of departments, such as shipping and billing, and eliminating the data entry errors that inevitably occurred as multiple departments re-keyed in the same data at multiple points in the workflow."

CPS Printing has a tradition of being progressive and adopting technology to bring exceptional quality control and project management through every phase of planning and production. More recently, they have launched a new division, Cordius Group, which specializes in automating many of the daily functions of a marketing department, including the creation of customized marketing collateral; coordination of powerful marketing campaigns, on-time mailing, artwork and ad creation; asset and image management; strict brand enforcement; print inventory management and program fulfillment. Their clients use Pageflex Storefront, a flexible and scalable solution for online customization and distribution of documents, to order everything from pre-printed brochures from inventory, to imprints of dealer address information on catalogs, to personalized direct mail postcards.

Once an order is placed in Pageflex Storefront, details such as the order number, customer number, finished good item number (for pieces in inventory), quantity, and shipping details are automatically transferred from Pageflex Storefront through the ChoiceICE connector to the MIS system where the job ticket is generated. The automated process eliminates the possibility of transcription errors and reduces turnaround times. Once an order is produced and shipped, the system updates the job status and package tracking information in Pageflex Storefront for the customer to see.

Benefits of the ChoiceICE integration include:
    •    Eliminate Double Data Entry – Order, job, and shipment tracking details automatically flow between Pageflex Storefront and business applications. There is no time spent re-keying data from a printed report into another department's system.
    •    Reduce Errors – Since data is not manually re-entered into any system, errors are eliminated.
    •    Profitability – As online orders, which are often numerous and of low-dollar value, continue to grow removing manual steps from the workflow becomes essential to making a profit.

"CPS Printing is a forward thinking company. They have really evaluated their processes and realized that automation paired with customer service will result in a better experience for their customers and a more profitable company," comments Anna Chagnon, president and CEO, Bitstream Inc. "We are pleased that Choice Software has been able to make this vision a reality for CPS Printing. It is not always easy integrating a web-to-print system with an MIS product, but Choice Software has demonstrated their capacity for doing just that."

"We have been impressed with the extensibility of Pageflex Storefront," comments Choice Software CEO Greg Billinghurst. "It really has been developed with an eye to being the front-end of an automated workflow. Our team is excited to see the success that CPS Printing is achieving by using ChoiceICE to transfer data between Pageflex Storefront with their MIS solution."

Pageflex (booth #6536) and Choice Software (booth #6661) are exhibiting now through September 16 at Print09 (www.print09.com) in Chicago at McCormick Place.
