Standard Register Adoption Policy Garners National Recognition

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, Ohio, May 2 -- Employees at Standard Register are not alone in recognizing the company's adoption policy as an outstanding benefit. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption recently recognized the company as one of the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in the country for 2007. Standard Register is a leading provider of document and print management services. The only Dayton-area company to be recognized, Standard Register was ranked third on the list of Ohio's Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces, and the company received a ranking of fourth on the list of national leaders in the industrial and manufacturing markets. Rankings were based on employers' overall adoption benefits, such as the amount of financial reimbursement and paid leave available to employees who adopt. "By establishing a beneficial and comprehensive adoption policy, Standard Register realized the many advantages such a policy offers to not only the individual employees but also the company as a whole," said Kathryn Lamme, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, Standard Register. In her role at the company, Lamme also oversees Human Resources. "Despite the fact that only a small percentage of employees use such a benefit, it illustrates the goodwill of companies and stresses the importance of family to existing and prospective employees," she added. Established in January 2006, Standard Register's policy on adoption provides employees with up to $4,000 of financial assistance as well as up to four weeks of paid leave. These benefits apply to both female and male employees. "It is vital for companies to recognize that time together is critical for families who adopt - time to allow both parents to bond with their new child, and time to allow the child to adapt to a new environment and bond with his or her new parents," said Megan Trickler, Standard Register benefits specialist who drove for the institution of the company's adoption policy - and is an adoptive parent herself. "The adoption benefits provided by Standard Register have been well received by employees, and as a company, we look forward to helping others recognize the unequivocal joy that adoption provides." The Foundation composed the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America list from direct mail and online surveys to CEOs and human resource executives from companies across the U.S. Employers were ranked based on their adoption benefits and were also categorized by size as well as by companies' general support of adoption and adoptive families.
