Jessen Press, Printing Greener with Agfa Graphics

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL (PRINT, Booth #2600) - Agfa Graphics announced today that Jessen Press of St. Louis Park, MN, has been using Agfa's workflow systems and CtP to reduce hazardous waste and improve the company's ecological footprint, all while maintaining high-quality output for its customers.

A family-run business founded in 1967, Jessen has transitioned into a proactive and technologically-savvy company, which has upgraded its hardware and software consistently. Jessen automated their shop with :Apogee Suite version 6.0 workflow, installed Agfa's :Avalon CtP platesetter and transitioned to :Azura TS thermal plates.  :Apogee gave Jessen Press advanced automation and integration capabilities, enabling the company to speed up the printing process, provide fast turnaround to its customers and offer minimal lag time between customer requests and production.

Moreover, in an effort to expand their internal sustainability initiatives, Jessen invested in Agfa's industry-leading chemistry-free plate technology. "We are committed to going above and beyond what is required to protect the environment for future generations. :Azura has helped us improve our footprint, sustainability, and reduce our hazardous waste while maintaining high levels of quality," said Beth Hagen, General Manager, Jessen Press. Hagen also offered, "we looked at a competitive product, but it did not provide results like :Azura. With :Azura, we have removed chemistry completely, providing us with major savings."

- Agfa's :Azura chemistry-free plate, with ThermoFuse™ technology, offers highly stable and predictable thermal imaging that effectively eliminates variables and compromises on press. ThermoFuse physically bonds images to the plate without any chemical processing
- :Apogee Suite is an integrated, digital workflow solution that brings together a wide range of features, combining automation with process control of the entire workflow in real time, from a single drag-and-drop graphical user interface.
