Idaho Press-Tribune improves efficiencies by investing in QuadTech Controls

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Press release from the issuing company

Sussex, WI – QuadTech, Inc. today announced that the Idaho Press-Tribune, Nampa, Idaho, has invested in QuadTech's industry leading Ribbon Control System. The closed-loop print-to-cut or print-to-fold system helps to save on makeready time, decreases waste and provides consistent quality. QuadTech is the world's preeminent designer and manufacturer of automated print controls.
The Idaho Press-Tribune's technology investment also includes QuadTech's ICON integrated platform, Register Guidance System and Register Motorization System 2000. The controls were installed on brand new DGM 440 presses with 4-high towers.
Traditionally, newspapers need to have a press operator manually inspect the process during a print run. However, the Idaho Press-Tribune realized the benefits, from both a cost and a time perspective, if they integrated the QuadTech technology to automate their operations.
"It became clear that the benefits of QuadTech's technology greatly outweighed the costs," said Roger Stowell, Idaho Press-Tribune Production Director. "The system quickly registers color and holds precise to the targets throughout the press run. We're also selling good papers much sooner than we would normally be able to, and…we're able to staff the press with fewer people. We are very pleased with the results."
"It's rewarding to know that we've helped the Idaho Press-Tribune streamline their processes in order to save money and provide quality products," said Karl Fritchen, President of QuadTech. "The installation of the Ribbon Control System, along with the other ICON-based controls, has been a very successful addition for them. Our goal for the Press-Tribune, as with all of our customers, is to create a partnership that will make their operations more profitable."
