Xerox Continuous Feed System combines power of color with economics of black-and-white

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Xerox Corporation's new Continuous Feed 4-over-1 Solution maintains the impact of full-color with the economics of black-and-white in a high-speed system built for production print jobs.

It combines the power of the Xerox 490 Color Continuous Feed Printer with the monochrome Xerox 650 Continuous Feed Printer, and is designed for transpromotional applications – documents that provide transactional and promotional information based on the recipients' previous purchase habits.

The solution provides an affordable transition into color for traditional black-and-white bills and statements. Users benefit from adding full-color marketing messages on one side and from the lower cost of printing content – like terms and conditions and activity details – in black-and-white.

Based on InfoTrends research, 95 percent of consumers open and read the bills and statements they receive in the mail. These same consumers spend an average of two to three minutes reviewing each statement, and 20 percent of them spend five minutes or more. With this level of attention, transaction documents represent a valuable customer touch point.1

A leading financial services company will install and test the Xerox Continuous Feed 4-over-1 Solution later this year. A limited global product launch is slated for early 2010.

"This latest breakthrough provides the right blend of color, speed and image quality to help transform costly, routine communications into high-impact promotional documents," said Eric Armour, president, Global Business Group, Xerox Corporation. "It reinforces Xerox's commitment to invest in and deliver continuous feed innovations to the marketplace."

Taking advantage of Xerox's innovative and proprietary flash fusing technology, the solution uses a micro-burst of light to heat only the toner and not the paper, resulting in better print image quality and greater substrate flexibility. Flash fusing also eliminates the need for fuser oil lubricant – lowering the cost of consumables and reducing environmental waste.

Xerox will showcase print samples and a multimedia presentation of the new Continuous Feed 4-over-1 Solution at Print 09, the year's largest graphic communications event, taking place Sept. 11 – 16 at Chicago's McCormick Place. The Xerox 490 and 1300 continuous feed systems will also be on display.
