INX Digital expands MD UV Flatbed Metal Decorating series at PRINT '09

Press release from the issuing company

San Leandro, CA - No longer must metal decorators rely on "make-do media" to get customer signoff before a long run, or pay for short-run conventional press make-ready time and startup waste.  The new MD660 UV flatbed digital printer from INX Digital has arrived and prospects can see it in action at INX booth 4848 during PRINT '09, to be held September 11-16 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

"Visitors can get a firsthand look at how quickly, easily and inexpensively the MD660 can deliver real-metal proofs, samples or short-run production of decorative tins, general line containers and aerosols," said Jim Lambert, Vice President Digital Division of INX International.  "It achieves extremely high resolution (over 1000 dpi) on coated or uncoated aluminum or steel substrates, at speeds from 65' to 120' per minute."

This new printer is an upgrade from the original MD600, which was the first short-run digital production solution for metal decorating and offers best-in-class performance and image quality.  Designed by INX Digital electronics engineering, software development and systems integration specialists, Lambert says the MD660 utilizes advanced Toshiba TEC printheads.

"This proven, highly reliable printhead technology delivers sharp text and photographic image quality with outstanding consistency.  It delivers high-level output quality-conscious marketers want, especially when creating specialized package designs for holidays and other occasions."

Highly versatile MD660 could pay its way with fewer than 50 proofs

The MD660 can print multiple formats on a single tinplate sheet, and it can print on stencil-coated layout. Specially designed Triangle brand UV ink sets further ensure superb digital color reproduction.  They print well on a wide variety of coated and uncoated media in addition to aluminum, including Fome-Cor, PVC, Styrene, corrugated plastic, plywood, MDO, aluminum plastic composite, cardboard, paper, acrylic and glass.

"The MD660 printer offers a highly cost-effective way for metal decorators to evolve into digital production that can save a significant amount of time for their overall operation," Lambert said noting that a prospect recently estimated this type of printer could pay for itself in 40 to 50 proofs.  "The focus of INX Digital's integration expertise is to provide advanced technologies which enable digital operations to grow their operations more profitably.  At PRINT '09, they will see how the MD660 UV flatbed digital printer can help them do precisely that."
