xpedx to hold 15-minute seminars for printers during Print 09

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, IL - xpedx is holding short seminars at PRINT 09 in Chicago to help printers better understand the financial crisis affecting the U.S. Postal Service and "Do Not Mail" legislation that has been introduced across the U.S.  The no-cost seminars will outline how proposed legislation has the potential to impact printers and their businesses.

The talks for printers at PRINT 09 will start at 12:15 p.m. at xpedx booth 1221 on Saturday, Sept. 12, Sunday, Sept. 13, and Tuesday, Sept. 15.  No registration is necessary to attend.

The "Do Not Mail" legislation that has been considered in 19 state legislatures would limit distribution of direct mail and impose fines.  It remains an active issue across the U.S. and will impact the vast majority of printers.  International Paper and xpedx are partnering with printers to help influence legislation.  xpedx is a business of International Paper.

The goal of the seminars is to give printers important information they can use to put their support behind the future growth of direct mail and a more financially fit U.S. Postal Service.

The 15-minute seminars will be led by Dave Kluesner, senior regional government relations manager for International Paper and xpedx.  He will give an update on state and federal issues affecting the printing industry and share how attendees can become engaged on the issues.

"There are issues at the state and federal level that printers-and all of us connected with the future of direct mail-have an important stake in," said Kluesner.  "We can work together to make a significant positive impact in the future of print."

xpedx will also have a kiosk in its booth supporting a postal reform letter-writing campaign being co-sponsored by Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC), National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), National Printing Equipment Association (NPES) and Printing Industries of America (PIA).
