GFI innovations elevates ink formulation at PRINT '09

Press release from the issuing company

Gurnee, IL - With 2-1/2 years of success in the marketplace, GFI Innovations' unique Mx6 Ink Formulation Dispenser has attracted a very sizeable and loyal following.  Printers from coast-to-coast and Hawaii, as well as those in Canada, understand the significant benefits realized from mixing their own ink.  Having the ability to save time and money, along with exercising greater control over the process and labor costs, makes quite a statement given today's economic situation.  At PRINT '09 in Chicago, GFI (booth #4009) will provide printers with new products to further help their operations.

Visitors to the GFI booth during the September 11-16 show at McCormick Place will find a new Blade Mixer, a revised automated color proofer, and an ink formulation software package waiting for them.  The Mx6 dispenser, the star in the company's stable, also will be prominently featured.

"I'm looking forward to PRINT '09 because so much has happened in the last 11 months since we were at McCormick Place for the Graph Expo show," said John Borkovec, GFI director of sales and marketing.  "The Mx6 Ink Formulation Dispenser has attracted a lot of attention from printers across the country and in Canada.  With the introduction of the new Blade Mixer and the modifications we have made to our proofing system, we have a more rounded program to offer at this show.  Printers who are looking for any edge they can find in this economy will want to see these products.  They'll learn how our customers have experienced bottom line benefits from taking control of their ink situations."

The new MxM-1 Blade Mixer thoroughly blends spot colors in 5-7 minutes.  Simply designed, this highly durable and automated mixer is built to last.  Adjustable slide bars can accommodate up to 10-pound containers and easily mixes water-based or liquid inks and paste inks, too.  It's simple to operate with a timer, easily fits into any pressroom with a small footprint (16" x 18" x 20"), and comes with disposable sleeves for the blade so no clean-up is necessary.

GFI introduced a prototype ProProof proofing system last year and after some enhancements, the    MxP-1 automated color proofer makes its debut at PRINT '09.  The automated system not only is fast, reliable and easy to operate, but extremely cost-effective and a great way to verify the color is correct before it goes to press.  It generates proofs through consistent pressure and speed, time after time.

The MxP-1 also offers a fully automated process that delivers high productivity, error-free repeatability, and accurate proofs with a consistent density of ink transferred on the roller.  Easy to operate and clean-up with only two rollers, it complements the Mx6 Ink Formulation Dispenser with its patented dispensing process, ink control system, quick-change Accurex cylinders, and innovative software.  The Mx-6 dispenser, the MxP-1 proofer, and the MxM-1 mixer will be on display and in action at the GFI booth.

GFI will promote an ink formulation software package and manual PrecisionPlus pipette to complement the Mx-P1 proofer at PRINT '09.  The ink formulation package developed by X-Rite, combined with a spectrophotometer, delivers results for custom colors and saves both time and waste.  Printers now have the ability to greater control their ink management program with this package by creating a custom formula that will reward them job after job.

The PrecisionPlus pipette will help any proofing system by precisely measuring and delivering the amount of ink applied to the roller, eliminating any second guessing.  A mini-trigger device with five different volume levels dispenses an amount of ink more accurate than anything else currently available in the market.  It delivers the ink using a disposable syringe so cleaning tools is not necessary.

"We have learned a lot from our customers and interested printers in the past year," Borkovec said.  "Printers who do a good portion of their work with spot and custom colors will experience tremendous benefits from our equipment.  We're looking forward to showing them how we can make them more money in 2010."
