BÖWE BELL + HOWELL's Plastic Card System (PCS) on display at PRINT 09

Press release from the issuing company

Wheeling, Ill. – BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH), a leading provider of document management solutions and services, will be demonstrating the latest capabilities of its Plastic Card System (PCS) in booth #7735 at PRINT 09, McCormick Place, Chicago, Sept. 11 through Sept. 16.

Transpromotion, where promotional messages are incorporated into transactional documents, is becoming increasingly popular in the mailing of high-value plastic cards such as credit cards, health insurance cards and membership cards. BBH's enhanced PCS now offers a solution for transpromotional mailings that involves the addition of a second card in a cross-folded document. For example, the transpromo mailing could include a credit card and a selectively added gift card.

"This new feature of the PCS for transpromotional mailings with selective card draw-off provides more options for card mailers who want to further distinguish themselves through value-added mailings," said Mark Van Gorp, vice president of business development for BBH.

The PCS's new extended card channel is equipped with eight magazines divided into two groups: four different personalized cards and four different gift cards. The PCS on display at PRINT 09 will also feature a cut-sheet feeder providing personalized carriers from a mixed stack, and a VEKtor camera in the paper channel that reads the machine control code and verifies if the correct paper is used. Visitors to booth #7735 will see a mix of mailpieces being produced, demonstrating the PCS's versatility in handling different card and paper layouts, cards selectively drawn-off, changing card positions, and changing text arrangements.

The new transpromo solution enhances what is already a durable and flexible high-speed card mailing system that can reliably attach up to six cards per document at speeds of up to 8,000 cards per hour on a wide range of document formats. Integrity is achieved through constant monitoring to ensure that every recipient receives the right cards on the right carrier.

With a compact footprint, high magazine capabilities, quick job changes and intuitive software, the PCS system is easy to operate and maintain. The automatic bypassing of incorrect materials prevents system stops, achieving maximum output with reduced input of operator time, space and consumables. BBH's renowned modular approach to equipment design makes the PCS easy to retrofit and customize per each client's needs.
