Vertis Communications appoints Kathy Calta, CMO

Baltimore - Vertis Communications, a premier marketing services provider of targeted print advertising and direct marketing solutions to America's leading retail and consumer services companies, announced today the appointment of Kathy Calta as chief marketing officer.

"Kathy's expertise is in anticipating market shifts and advertisers' ever-changing needs - always keeping an eye on our customers' customers," said Quincy L. Allen, chief executive officer for Vertis Communications. "With her deep experience in interactive marketing, customer data management and technology, she will ensure Vertis' services are aligning marketers' communications and business objectives with appropriate media options. Kathy will jump start product innovation at Vertis to help our clients enhance response for their marketing programs while better managing their advertising costs."

Most recently, Calta was a partner at Rosetta Marketing, a leading interactive marketing company that pioneered personalized marketing solutions. Prior to Rosetta, Calta was at Harte-Hanks for 22 years serving in senior leadership roles, including corporate officer of the company, both as a senior vice president and executive vice president. Calta led U.S. business units that delivered integrated direct and interactive agency services, customer data management, database construction, analytics, technology, production services, and related services, among other functions.  She also served as the chair for the Data Center Consolidation initiative and participated on the company's Technology Council.

In 2005, Calta was named a recipient of a Stevie Award for Women Entrepreneurs, specifically "Best Executive" in the category of "Service Businesses-More than 2,500 Employees." Prior to joining Harte-Hanks in 1986, Calta held positions at Landmark Communications, ADVO Systems, Inc., and a regional Pennsylvania department store chain.

Calta earned two bachelor's degrees from Mansfield University, a Bachelor of Science in art education, as well as a Bachelor of Science in psychology.
