ASU Achieves GRACoL Certified Output with CGS

Press release from the issuing company

Hainburg, Germany / Minneapolis, MN -- CGS Publishing Technologies International, global leader of color management solutions, digital proofing systems and specially formulated media is pleased to be a partner in the Arizona State University Print and Imaging Lab through the donation of ORIS Color Tuner and ORIS Press Matcher. The original donation of ORIS software was made in April of 2008. CGS has worked closely with the lab personnel to integrate into the day to day operation of the lab, as well as, the curriculum of the graphics program at ASU.

Trevor Haworth, CEO of CGS stated, "We are pleased with the progress ASU has made achieving GRACoL certified output using their HP Indigo Press and ORIS Press Matcher Pro. This is a prime example of how our College Outreach Program works to provide advanced color training. Our partnership with HP played a big role in giving ASU the tools necessary to achieve this level of quality."

Five years ago the ASU In-plant printing facility was transformed into the Print and Imaging Lab as not only an in house printing facility but an integral part of the graphic communications program at the school. The facility is available for use by faculty and students alike. The lab serves clients within the university, as well as, selected Not-for-Profit organization outside the university. The faculty integrates the lab into their course plans.

The Color Lab was created within the Print and Imaging Lab to improve the color output of all the different printing devices used in the lab and to provide a learning experience for our students, stated Mike Chiricuzio, Director of the Print and Imaging Lab. CGS was very generous to donate ORIS Color Tuner and ORIS Press Matcher to our program. We have made this software an integral part of our program. We are very pleased to achieve GRACoL certified output using ORIS Press Matcher Pro in conjunction with our Indigo Press.

Commenting on the process of achieving GRACoL certified output, Ross Greenblat of the lab stated. "We used ORIS Press Matcher Pro to calibrate the HP 3000 press using the IT874+P2P Test Target.  Press Matcher Pro allowed us to dial in the exact settings needed to meet the GRACoL specification. It is easy to use and allow us to achieve the desired settings with a minimum amount of adjustment."

Ross Greenblat went on to say, we are rolling out GRACoL to our offset, digital and inkjet devices using ORIS Press Matcher to match the output of all our printing devices no matter what technology is used.."
