Riverside Group Installs Horauf BDM from Muller Martini

Press release from the issuing company

The Riverside Group, a 90-person trade bindery located in Rochester, NY specializing in casebound, perfect-bound and wire-bound books, recently installed the Horauf BDM Compact Case Maker with optional board slitter to handle an increasing demand for quality cases.  “This machine has doubled our capacity for case making and allows us to deliver faster to our customers,” explained Riverside CEO Peter Pape.  “Since we own other Muller Martini equipment, and case binding has become one of the faster growing segments of our business, it was easy to once again rely on Muller.  They understand our client’s needs and continue to work hard to meet and exceed our expectations.”

The Horauf BDM Compact is ergonomically-engineered based on the proven Horauf casemaking technology.  It can produce all types of standard hardcovers, as well as ring binders, game boards and other premium case products.

As its name implies, the Horauf BDM Compact delivers not just shorter make-ready times, but its small size means a highly efficient work-space for operators.  In addition, all of its mechanical functions are completely visible and easily accessible to the operator, enabling start-to-finish monitoring of the entire production process for maximized efficiency.  “It fit our needs perfectly, giving us maximum flexibility to produce a wide range of covers.  And, it delivers both performance and quality at a very attractive, competitive price,” explained Mr. Pape.

“We’ve worked with Muller for over 25 years.  In the late eighties, we acquired three Muller stitchers, plus two Muller Martini perfect binders.  In 1993, we updated our equipment with a new Muller StarBinder.  Later, we purchased a new NormBinder from Muller.  We’ve been extremely pleased with all of these transactions, from install to service.  That’s why it was easy to turn once again to Muller when we decided to invest in a new Casemaker,” commented Mr. Pape.
