Aleyant Systems takes web-to-print to new heights

Press release from the issuing company

Lombard, IL. - Aleyant Systems, a leading provider of advanced web-based platforms for the graphic communications industry, today announced the continued enhancement of its Pressero web-to-print solution and eDocBuilder for variable data and templated applications. Both solutions will be on display at Print 09, scheduled for September 11th through 16th at McCormick Place in Chicago.  Aleyant Systems can be found in Booth 6654 at the show.

"Aleyant empowers printers by leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to enhance the Web-to-print user experience," states Greg Salzman, President of Aleyant Systems. "With intuitive interfaces to process both simple and complex printing jobs, an architecture that seamlessly integrates into CRM and MIS systems, and attractive price points, more printers are choosing Pressero and eDocBuilder for their Web-to-print solution.  We are excited to introduce our latest product advancements at Print 09, making these solutions even more attractive to print service providers who want to affordably add Web to print or update their offerings. The updated tools give printing companies and their customers even more control over their online ordering experience while producing a more reliable print file."

New to Pressero is a robust and easy to use utility that allows printing companies to completely customize the design of each customer store. Aleyant has created a number of templates that allow printers to easily modify the palette and artwork to provide a storefront that has a similar look and feel to customer image and brand standards. In addition, each store can have its own unique look and feel. For more complex skinning requirements, Aleyant will work with printers to cost-effectively create appropriate designs.

Pressero includes eDocBuilder, an easy-to-use, template-based variable data application that allows customers to quickly and easily customize, proof, and approve variable data documents, including business cards, brochures and more, directly from a web browser. Once the order is placed, an imposed press-ready PDF file is sent to the print service provider for production.

The latest release of eDocBuilder includes two important enhancements:

*    Flash Designer is a Rich Internet Application (RIA) based on Adobe Flash. It has a design interface that allows users to quickly and easily create and edit storefront templates.  Users can choose either the standard HTML interface or the new Flash interface depending upon requirements.

Users can easily determine which fields are editable, use the Image Picker to choose new images, edit text fields, resize images and more.  Content owners can control which portions of the template may be modified by end users using the rules-based engine included with eDocBuilder. eDocBuilder maintains a client/server architecture using Aleyant's server farm.  This minimizes the number of fonts, images and other resources that must be loaded to the web browser, improving efficiency, preserving color spaces, and supporting a wide variety of fonts and image types. This approach taps into the power of a server-based solution while taking full advantage of the interactivity of the client interface.

*    eDocBuilder templates can now be created using any document creation software. Variable fields are marked with brackets, and a PDF is created from the native application for upload and automatic template creation.

"The ability to use your document creation package of choice for template creation is unique in the Web-to-print world," explains Salzman. "Most solutions require the use of a proprietary composition engine, a plug-in for a specific application such as Adobe InDesign, or creation of templates using Adobe PDF forms capability.  This increases the cost of operation and limits user options, thus compressing the available universe of users.  We chose to provide a truly open platform that allows users to work with a familiar solution, literally creating templates in a few minutes."

Pressero users will automatically be upgraded to the new version of eDocBuilder.  Capabilities will also be available to partners who purchase eDocBuilder as a standalone application for integration into other solutions using Web services.  In addition, Aleyant has added a range of new Web services calls to support Rich Internet Application (RIA) development and make eDocBuilder even easier to integrate.

The latest version of Pressero is available immediately; updates to eDocBuilder will be available following Print 09.  Pressero can be implemented for as little as $995 plus a $295 monthly maintenance fee. For more information, visit www.Pressero.com or call 800-571-2138.
