CPC Haferkamp invests in integrated AVT Printvision/Helios II

Hod-Hasharon, Israel – The CPC Group is installing the new generation PrintVision/Helios II Automatic Inspection solution and Microcolor NW automated digital remote ink control solution on a new Nilpeter press, at its CPC Haferkamp facility in northern Germany, as part of an expansion of the company's labels operation.

CPC Haferkamp has recently ordered a new Nilpeter MO 4 modular offset press for labels and packaging applications. In order to ensure high print quality, production cost reduction and complete quality assurance, the press will be equipped with Microcolor NW, GMI's latest generation remote digital ink control solution; PrintVision/Helios II, AVT's latest generation of 100% automatic inspection and quality assurance solution; and AVT's WorkFlow Link solution, providing press-to-rewinder digital workflow support ensuring efficient removal of defective material. The AVT / GMI solution package offers an unparalleled level of print quality, ensuring color consistency, optimal ink use, a high level of automation and ease of use while dramatically reducing production costs.

The GMI Microcolor NW is an automated, fully digital remote ink control solution designed for narrow web applications and it ensures that today's demand for color consistency and quality is achieved, while increasing productivity and reducing print waste. During make ready, Microcolor NW enables fast, easy and accurate color set-up. For job re-runs, correct ink settings can be immediately achieved using the Microcolor NW's ink setting storage feature. Color adjustments can be precisely performed during the print run using its user friendly, touch screen operation. Working in conjunction with the PrintVision/Helios II, operators can immediately identify any color shift and easily handle color changes detected early in the process by the PrintVision/Helios II. This enables press operators to run the press faster while still ensuring high color accuracy and print quality.

The AVT PrintVision/Helios II detects print defects as soon as they start to evolve and alerts the press operator in real time, so remedial action can be taken. The system detects both process and random defects including mis-prints, mis-register, color variation, text imperfections, spots, splashes and more. All this valuable data is automatically stored in the system's database, where it can be viewed, analyzed and edited. Reports can then be generated and used for process improvement and down-stream quality assurance.
Information gathered from the PrintVision/Helios II is sent via the AVT Workflow Link solution to a Leomat rewinder. The AVT Workflow Link uses the data from the press to control the rewinder, stopping it at the appropriate places so that defective copy can be removed. This ensures that optimal quality print without defects is delivered to the customer.
