Axode vision systems to be integrated onto MGI's Meteor DP60 Pro digital presses; combined solutions will be displayed at PRINT 09

Melbourne, Fl. - MGI Digital Graphic Technology, the multi-substrate (paper and plastic) digital press and finishing solution manufacturer, and Axode, a leader in providing vision systems for secure document production, have announced a strategic partnership agreement.

This agreement provides for MGI to integrate Axode vision systems on MGI's Meteor DP60 Pro 4-color multi-substrate digital presses. The combined system is designed to ensure the integrity of secure variable data print jobs, and will maintain the Meteor DP60 Pro's high quality while guaranteeing zero content default. The Axode system can be used to accompany production of a variety of secure documents, including cards (pre-paid, membership, smart, ID, etc.), labels, stickers, and many other applications.

The most versatile digital press in the industry, the award-winning Meteor DP60 Pro can print on the widest range of paper and plastic substrates, including CS1/CS2, Bristol, bond, art/textured papers, envelopes, PVC, polycarbonate, Teslin, PET, polypropylene, vinyl/static cling, and certain specialized substrates such as magnetic material and canvas/buckram. It also has the widest cut sheet size range of any digital press, from 4 x 6" (100 x 150 mm) up to 13 x 47" (330 x 1194 mm) and in thicknesses from 20 lb bond up to 130 lb cover (70 to 350 gsm) and 100 up to 400 microns (4 to 16 mil). The Meteor DP60 Pro produces brilliant prints at 2400 DPI @ 200 LPI resolutions and has full variable data capabilities.

"Our partnership with Axode will allow MGI to provide our customers a proven method to ensure the integrity of their variable print jobs," said Michael Abergel, Executive Vice President for MGI USA. "Clients worldwide are using the Meteor DP60 Pro to produce a variety of secure applications such as government ID cards, pre-paid cards, RFID tracking labels and financial documents and the Axode system will ensure that their data is consistently valid and reliable."

"Today, it is necessary to secure processes of paper documents & plastic cards manufacturing and personalization in order to avoid variable data or print quality errors. Our partnership with MGI on their Meteor DP60 Pro digital presses will provide customers integrated camera control solutions combining both companies' technical know-how and experience", said Nicolas Vendryes, Axode President. "Indeed, solutions available on MGI's Meteor DP60 Pro will range from simple control of variable data (customer numbers, barcodes, 2D…) to full color data and image control on a wide range of applications including ID cards."

The combined solution will be on display in MGI's booth at PRINT 09 (#4329), the largest US trade show for graphic design, digital prepress, printing, publishing and converting technology, held September 11-16 in Chicago, Illinois. MGI will present a Meteor DP60 Pro equipped with the Axode vision system and will demonstrate "on-the-fly" integrity assurance and quality control for variable data print jobs. Axode will also show their entire range of innovative solutions at PRINT in booth # 8520.
