T-460 Three Form Roller Press Launched by Tensor Group

Thursday, November 06, 2008

Press release from the issuing company

WOODRIDGE, IL (November 3, 2008) - Tensor Group, Inc., a premier U.S. manufacturer of web offset press equipment, launched its latest evolutionary single-width press unit design, the Tensor T-460, during the recent IFRA exposition. This three form roller press offers a second high-speed, ultra robust Tensor product option for superlative newspaper and semi-commercial print performance.

The launch of the new T-460 (max. speed up to 46,000 iph) follows the success of Tensor's T-500 model, the company's first 12-roller ink press unit introduced in 2006 which was subsequently installed at prestigious sites in eastern Europe and the U.S. Tensor is repositioning the T-500 design in the marketplace with an enhanced couple shaftless drive system and speed upgrade from 50,000 iph to 60,000 iph. The T-460 will fill the market niche that does not require such high speed, but demands high ink coverage and fast makeready capabilities for high quality semi-commercial print.

The two products share some similar characteristics such as twelve roller ink trains, full bearer design, the expected traditional Tensor bearing-in-a-bearing technology for full cylinder support, and massive cast iron frames that reduce vibration and provide stability with the added benefit of lasting durability. But there are marked differences between the T-460 and the T-500 also, purposely designed to meet two different market preferences and price points.

The T-460 is equipped with a footprint shaftless AC vector drive system (with optional unit-shaftless drive), while the T-500 is now offered with an independent couple shaftless drive system with servo motors as standard. The couple shaftless configuration enables unit-to-unit register controls on both the 10- and 13-side. Optional plate cocking for swift makeready is available only with the T-500.

Chilled ink vibrators, segmented ink fountain blades and oil coolers for sustained high-speed applications are standard on the T-500, optional on the T-460.

As on all Tensor presses, both models can be equipped with spray dampening, automatic register control, remote inking, and ink leveler systems. Don Gustafson, president of Tensor Group, states, "We're excited about the T-460 and the enhanced T-500 product offerings, and we're pleased with the excellent reactions and interest received from potential customers at the IFRA this week. The Tensor three-form roller presses afford a sound choice for semi-commercial printers based on their application requirements, at two excellent price points."

Tensor Group, Inc. has also published a new company overview brochure and product literature. For copies of these, or to download an extensive list of global Tensor sales contacts, visit the Tensor website at www.tensorgroup.com or call the corporate office in the U.S. at 630-739-9600.
