Press release from the issuing company

BOSTON-- EFI, the world leader in color digital print servers, superwide format printers, and business management software, today launched a suite of powerful new solutions that help customers print to win. These breakthrough products include the most advanced Fiery platform, featuring system software that won industry analyst firm BERTL's Best Innovation award, to the newly enhanced Digital StoreFront web-to-print platform, MicroPress raster-based color and black and white workflow solution - and the newly improved Fiery JDF (Job Definition Format) Connector that delivers seamless Fiery integration with EFI business management and third-party prepress and workflow solutions. The new products are showcased in EFI partners' booths throughout the On Demand Expo (April 16-19, Boston Convention Center). "We're reinforcing our commitment to help customers print to win with this new suite of solutions expressly designed to drive their increased competitiveness, efficiency and profitability," said Fred Rosenzweig, EFI president. "Our most advanced Fiery platform turns the print service provider's digital production print engine into the most effective competitive weapon it can be. The new Fiery and our other breakthrough products launched at On Demand put EFI's more than 17 years experience in print management solutions to work and add tremendous value for our customers in this highly competitive, dynamic industry." EFI's Most Advanced Fiery Platform With the new EFI Fiery platform, featuring a new industrial design, customers get the most out of their digital print production engine and their people. Renowned for its intuitive user experience, the new Fiery platform features a unique Visual Workflow that optimizes productivity by providing job progress at-a-glance, and built in "how-to" guides to address a wide range of operator expertise. The new Fiery platform makes it easier for print services providers to satisfy their customers' unique needs, from the simplest to the most complex applications and ever shorter timelines. The powerful Fiery platform also delivers new revenue stream opportunities such as high-value variable data printing (VDP), offering the most VDP options of any digital print server in the industry. EFI has forged partnerships with the leading third-party personalization software providers and supports such VDP languages as industry standard PPML (Personalized Print Markup Language), Fiery FreeForm(TM), and a host of legacy proprietary languages, ensuring that the Fiery platform readily integrates into existing workflows and delivers consistency regardless of whether the job is VDP or non-VDP. The advanced Fiery job management capabilities enable print service providers to tailor their production process to the type of work they do. Underscored by EFI's being the only company to pass the stringent Altona Test Suite benchmark, the new Fiery platform delivers the industry's most accurate, predictable color. Featuring EFI Fiery ColorWise®, the EFI in-RIP color management system, the Fiery platform delivers color that is consistent across applications, computer platforms, color spaces, and color file formats. The Spot On feature provides the ability to measure and manage spot colors, particularly relevant in achieving corporate colors. With the Fiery open platform and compliance with industry standards such JDF, PDF (Portable Document Format), and PPML, the Fiery platform readily integrates in any technology environment and easily accommodates change in that environment. The Fiery platform serves as a gateway to third-party technologies and EFI products such as Colorproof(TM) XF for proofing and with EFI business management software and prepress solutions. Fiery-driven systems integrate with EFI business management and prepress solutions via the newly enhanced standards-based EFI Fiery JDF Connector, providing commercial printers with an accurate, efficient production workflow - from capturing the designer's original intent to real-time estimating, accounting and billing, to producing brilliant digital output. EFI's additional partnerships with leading third-party pre-press software providers help ensure customers' success in migrating to an offset/digital hybrid environment, and the Fiery platform includes a number of production automation and workflow management features that further support the seamless integration of digital and offset prepress workflows. Digital StoreFront 3.0 EFI Digital StoreFront, the industry-leading web-to-print platform, enables print service providers to create a unique, intuitive shopping experience for their customers, allowing them to easily navigate through a full suite of print products and services (including personalized items and managed catalogs) all in one place. Digital StoreFront also provides powerful back-end automation for print service providers, acting as an on-ramp to their digital production workflow and print management, reducing data entry, decreasing the likelihood of print errors, and reducing labor costs. The newest version of Digital StoreFront includes a redesigned user interface, enabling easy branding and customization of sites to support a wide variety of customer relationships, combined with powerful back-end automation for the print service provider. MicroPress 7.5 EFI has made significant improvements to the uniquely raster-based color and black and white powerful production workflow solution MicroPress. EFI MicroPress features incomparable and dramatically time- and money-saving make-ready tools. MicroPress simplifies complex job construction by automating labor-intensive processes such as hand collating, tab inserting, docu-ment renumbering and booklet creating, and minimizes the need for re-RIPing. Additionally, EFI ratchets up the color capability in MicoPress beyond other production workflow solutions by integrating the industry's leading tools for consistent, high-quality color. MicroPress customers now have strengthened color power with the integration of ColorWise® Pro Tools, EFI's popular color print production management suite and EFI Spot On, a feature that provides the ability to measure and manage spot colors, particularly relevant in print service providers' achieving corporate colors. With MicroPress, print service providers have an unprecedented two-punch production workflow power: top speed and accurate, high-quality color. The new EFI solutions will be showcased in partner booths throughout On Demand, including Canon Booth 1400; FujiFilm Graphic Systems Booth 651; Konica-Minolta Booth 1215; Oce Booth 1229; Ricoh Booth 619; and Xerox Booth 914.
