Dalim Software licenses Adobe PDF Print Engine 2

Press release from the issuing company

Kehl, Germany (July 17, 2008)  - Dalim Software has signed a license agreement with Adobe to incorporate the Adobe PDF Print Engine 2 into its workflow.

Dalim Software believes that Adobe PostScript, Portable Document Format (PDF) and Job Definition Format (JDF) combined with the Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 will create unmatched file handling and output consistency, regardless of the output method or media. The collaboration with Adobe is key to have uniform print engines in workflows between the publisher and the printer.

"Dalim Software has a tremendous heritage of introducing cutting edge print production software, while at the same time having a respect for open standards," says Carol Werlé, Dalim Software CEO. "We see it as an obligation to maintain our reputation as a technology leader of innovative solutions and therefore continue to forge partnerships with vendor companies to provide some of the most progressive automated print production systems."

"We welcome Dalim Software's use of Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 in their workflow applications," says Naresh Gupta, senior vice president, Print and Publishing Solutions at Adobe. "This will ensure consistency and performance of content handling based on PDF, regardless of the media chosen."

As the artwork supplied to publishers increases in its complexity, along with the increase in variable data and the need for multi-purpose content, printers face the challenge of delivering printed material that accurately represents the designer's intent. One of the primary hurdles is the requirement of many Rips to convert PDFs to PostScript before processing. Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 addresses this by processing PDF files in their native state until the time of interpretation, resulting in greater integrity of data.

Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 is the latest version of the original product launched at Ipex 2006. It ushers in the next generation of print publishing by supporting PDF/VT, the emerging standard for variable data printing, and harnessing the reliability, flexibility and portability of PDF to accelerate the industry's movement towards digital printing, personalization and automation. It enables Adobe OEM partners to build next-generation print solutions.
