Xaar Inkjet Printheads Featured In Label Printers At Labelexpo

Press release from the issuing company

21st July 2008 - Xaar reinforces its position as the premier independent supplier of industrial inkjet printheads at Labelexpo Americas (9-11th September, Chicago). Four leading label specialists are demonstrating innovative systems featuring the Xaar 1001 head, printing high quality color labels.

Following their launch at Drupa and Interpack respectively, the Stork DSI and the JF Machines Narrow Web Press make their American debut. In addition, EFI is showing the award winning Jetrion 4000, while Nilpeter/FFEI displays the quality of its new CASLON digital print module. These new printers demonstrate the benefits of printing labels digitally in high quality colour: cost-effective printing of variable data, and short run customization.

-    The EFI Jetrion 4000 UV Inkjet System (Booth 6423) offers label converters an affordable, full-colour narrow web alternative to toner-based digital printers for label runs of up to 50,000 labels
-    The JF Machines PicoColour range of narrow web presses (Xaar Booth 6446) prints on a wide variety of materials, including film, foil and fabric up to 160mm web widths
-    The Nilpeter/FFEI CASLON (Booth 3105) integrates into the Nilpeter 'Dream Line' and, printing at up to 50m/min, combines high quality digital printing with conventional printing and converting
-    The Stork DSI inkjet module (Booth 529) is a narrow web DSI (Digital System Integration) inkjet module. It boasts an 'open platform' to make it easy to integrate into a range of printing presses. With top speeds up to 35m/minute, the module offers fast changeover times and handles all main paper and filmic label substrates.

The 'industrial strength' Xaar 1001 is a variable drop (greyscale) printhead featuring Xaar's patented Hybrid Side-Shooter platform with TF Technology. Its revolutionary design ensures high reliability and productivity. By using 'XaarDOT' dynamically variable drop sizes, fine detail, small text and smooth tones are rendered reliably and consistently. In addition to the Xaar 1001, Xaar will show its full range of printheads, covering applications as diverse as case coding, flexible packaging, and wide-format graphics.

The ixPressia Print Engine Colour Label software with its greyscale screening capabilities and variable data will also be showcased on the Xaar booth. It will be demonstrated on JF Machines' narrow web press, and ixPressia staff will be present on the Xaar booth to describe the unique features of the software and its ability to generate label images in real-time in full colour with variable data.

The company's unique XaarDOT (Drop Optimisation Technology) capability enables the production of variable-sized drops. XaarDOT flexibility gives users the ability to select drop size or resolution depending upon the application, image quality and substrate. Fine drops are important for close viewing, such as labels, while larger droplets are perfect for distance viewing, such as large format displays.

"Inkjet printing's flexibility is changing digital printing in many fields, and variable drop, high quality printing is bringing new creative possibilities to the label industry," explains Chris Lynn, VP Sales and Marketing, Americas.
