GPO Names Nicholas Lefevre As General Counsel

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON (July 16, 2008)  Public Printer Robert C. Tapella announces the appointment of Nicholas Lefevre as General Counsel of the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO).  Lefevre will serve as the agency’s chief legal officer and provide legal opinions and advice to the Public Printer.  Lefevre will represent GPO in all legal matters involving government and non-government organizations.

Lefevre brings nearly 30 years of experience as a leading lawyer in the digital technology field to GPO.  He has spent the majority of his career as an attorney-advisor to senior management at computer, software, publishing and technology companies.  Lefevre is an expert in the copyright field, having been part of the transition from paper to desktop publishing to internet and digital rights.  He has spent more than two decades in California in private practice and as chief in-house counsel to digital companies that include: Commodore Business Machines, Atari Corporation, Konami Digital Entertainment and VM Labs, Inc.

“Nick’s expertise and background of providing legal counsel to digital companies will be an asset to GPO, as the agency continues with its own digital transformation,” said Public Printer Robert C. Tapella.

Lefevre also served as a law clerk for two years at the U.S. Court of Claims (now the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit).  He is a graduate of Georgetown Law School. Lefevre received his Bachelor’s Degree from American University.
