callas releases pdfToolbox 4

Press release from the issuing company

Berlin, Düsseldorf, Germany -- July 16, 2008 -- callas software, leading supplier of PDF technologies for print production and document management and archiving, announces the immediate availability of the brand new callas pdfToolbox 4, a complete, all-in-one print production tool set.

Successfully announced at drupa 2008, callas pdfToolbox 4 gives all aspects of working with PDFs a massive boost. The greatly extended feature set is no longer tailored for prepress users exclusively. A whole range of tasks - from the most common file preparation for CMYK output to advanced versioning can now be done better and in less time. On top of this range of new features comes a totally revamped user interface allowing users to achieve what they want in just a couple of clicks.

New features compatible with the latest versions of Adobe® Acrobat®
The new features in pdfToolbox 4 include added functionality for imposing everything from business cards and booklets to N-up imposition, improved controls for creating professionally looking PDF presentations, and easy creation of PDF versions for localized information or multiple languages, even when you don't have the creator document or application. As callas software is the developer of the preflight feature in Acrobat 9, pdfToolbox 4 is of course 100% compatible with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and 3D as well as Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional and Extended.

Leading edge, standards compliant technology
callas pdfToolbox 4 also builds upon its predecessor's enviable reputation for professional high-end production tools with advanced color controls and an updated version of the same preflight engine used in Adobe® Acrobat® that now supports the latest ISO standards for PDF/A and PDF/E and the recently released PDF/X-4 and PDF/X-5. pdfToolbox 4 provides PDF slicing and gluing to split or join PDF content; controls to scale, fit, move, extend, rotate and flip PDF content; and the ability to embed, subset, replace and convert fonts to outlines while maintaining correct character spacing without bloating document sizes.

Pricing and availability
callas pdfToolbox 4 will be immediately available at an introductory price of €399, valid until September 30, 2008. From October 1, 2008 onwards callas pdfToolbox 4  will be priced at €499. Upgrades from pdfToolbox 3 will be free. Upgrades from any previous version of pdfToolbox, pdfCorrect, pdfColorConvert or pdfLayermaker will cost €199. Upgrade pricing will only be available until the end of the year.

callas pdfToolbox Server 4 will be launched in the fall of 2008. It will be based on the same technology platform as pdfToolbox 4, and will feature even more powerful automation capabilities than pdfToolbox Server 3 offers today. Customers purchasing pdfToolbox Server 3 after July 15, 2008 or customer with a valid Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) will be entitled to a free upgrade of pdfToolbox Server 4 when it becomes available.
