ICS to demo new version of Remote Director at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

May 27, 2008, New York - Integrated Color Solutions (ICS), the pioneer of accurate monitor proofing technology and the only provider to offer so many flexible, cross-platform, real-time, proofing capabilities; will feature the most advanced proofing technologies in the industry, to date, at drupa 2008.  ICS is also showcasing -- with its many partners -- the capabilities of Remote Director on a variety of monitors, as well as its easy integration with existing workflows.  Additionally, company vice president of operations, Dan Caldwell, will speak on monitor proofing at a drupa Compass session on June 5.

Highlights of ICS's drupa exhibit located in Hall 4, Stand F47 include:

New Version Of Remote Director -- ICS is unveiling a substantially more powerful, multifaceted version of award-winning Remote Director that redefines the proofing category.  New Remote Director delivers a long list of unprecedented advantages to commercial and package printers, publishers and prepress professionals.

By moving Remote Director's color computing to processors so powerful they are used for advanced scientific and sophisticated 3D and gaming applications, ICS engineering teams were able to move to a spectrally-based color system (the most complete color dataset) and also add numerous, previously unavailable, functions to the graphic arts workflow.

Remote Director Demonstrations - drupa attendees will have the opportunity to see Remote Director in action at one of the five demonstration workstations (Macintosh & Windows platforms) on monitors from Apple, Enzio, Quato, NEC and Samsung at the ICS stand. Users will be able to see, first-hand, color-accurate remote proofing across both platforms and on diverse monitor displays.

In addition to the new Remote Director version, ICS will feature demonstrations of proofing scenarios for brand owners, agencies, prepress, publishers, catalogs and printers using the company's Remote Director and ProoFlow solutions. Additionally, ICS is showing approval sign-off via embedded XMP PDF Support. Attendees interested in integrating Remote Director into any workflow will also be able to see examples of how the  Remote Director SDK (software development kit) has been integrated into several third party hosting applications at the stand.

Workflow Integration Demonstrations -- Remote Director is known as an essential component in automated workflows all over the globe. Publications and their suppliers worldwide have chosen and installed Remote Director as their monitor proofing solution of choice, while increasing numbers of manufacturing partners are adding the technology via the simple SDK, or recommending its use to customers.

ICS demonstrations will showcase Remote Director integration with Wave's MediaBank and Xinet's WebNative.

FOGRA - ICS is participating with Fogra as part of the organization's "web2proof" demonstration at drupa. At the Fogra stand (Hall 5 A02), trade fair visitors will have the opportunity to generate a customized test form using a web-interface comprised of typical objects such as images, graphics and text representing different problem categories (spot colors, overprints, transparencies, etc.), which reflect today's workflows at their best. Having the goal of mimicking the daily challenges as closely as possible, special control elements such as Ghent Workgroup test elements will be used.

As a Web2proof partner in the workflow management arena, ICS will use Remote Director to correct and prepare the customized PDF files towards a "flattened and CMYK only" print ready PDF. The output intent will be FOGRA39, i.e., offset printing on gloss or matte coated paper (screen ruling according to 60/cm). The processed file is then available for output to all other web2proof partners.

In this manner, the interested party can view his or her test form as a soft proof, a contract proof, a digital print, or any and all of them in the preferred combination. Last but not least, it is possible to obtain production print sheets of a predefined test form printed according to ISO 12647-2 from a printing machine manufacturer for comparison or proof simulation. In the process, one can get information about important aspects of the Process Standard Offset Printing (PSO) and the proof which conforms to it.

By participating in this Fogra sponsored event, ICS will demonstrate the possibilities of state of the art proofing technologies; and how standardized, high quality soft, hard proof and digital printing solutions are working from the design stage up through output.

ICS Presents at drupa Compass Session
