ImageSet Digital Achieves Continued Double-digit Growth with HP Indigo Press Expansion

Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 23, 2007, – HP today announced that ImageSet Digital, a full-service digital graphic communications provider based in Houston, has installed its second HP Indigo press 5000 , as well as an HP Indigo press s2000 , as part of the rapidly growing company’s overall digital production reconfiguration. The firm has also enhanced its large-format digital printing operations with a new HP Designjet 9000s Printer. The new technologies further enhance the firm’s ability to provide the most productive solutions to its customers, utilizing the highest-quality technologies available. In total, ImageSet Digital has purchased three HP Indigo presses in the past year: an HP Indigo press 5000 model installed in April 2006, an s2000 model installed in late 2006, and a second 5000 model installed this month. In addition, ImageSet Digital, which produces large-format inkjet prints with two HP Designjet 5500 printers, has also begun to offer outdoor signage and an expanded range of large-format products with the 64" HP Designjet 9000s Printer installed in March. All of the installations are helping to sustain an annual average 40 percent growth rate achieved since the firm bought its first HP Indigo press in 2001. “Time after time, we are finding that our customers are creating compelling growth stories by incorporating the offset quality, short-run profitability and variable-data capabilities of HP Indigo presses into their businesses,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division, HP. “ImageSet Digital presents a significant example of how a full range of HP graphic arts technologies can provide the basis for a progressive and profitable business model in today’s graphic arts industry.” Selling on value versus cost with HP ImageSet managers say they like to spoil their customers by offering them the advantages of the company’s six-color HP Indigo digital presses. ImageSet Digital’s first six-color HP Indigo press 5000 has become the firm’s workhorse for short-run digital printing jobs, personalized variable-data, direct-mail and web-to-print solutions. The firm’s HP Indigo press s2000 provides a competitive advantage in ImageSet’s local market area with its ability to print on plastics, synthetics and other specialty media. Both the six-color HP Indigo press s2000 and 5000 models produce offset-quality, on-demand variable-data work utilizing a range of color capabilities the firm could not find on competing digital press equipment. “I believe the HP Indigo presses open doors that some other competing technologies might not,” said Debbi Briggs, who founded ImageSet Digital in 1985 and serves as president. “Clients like getting the proof on actual stock and the quick turn-around, and we found the HP Indigo technology to be superior to the other digital presses. The HP Indigo technology enables us to sell on value versus cost per page.” ImageSet’s 38 experienced employees provide digital graphics services throughout the United States for a list of clients that includes graphic designers, ad agencies, corporate marketing departments, major retailers and other printing firms. The work they have done for these clients has racked up honors for the company such as being named one of the fastest-growing woman-owned businesses by Houston’s Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance, and a spot on The Houston 100 – a list of the fastest-growing privately owned companies. ImageSet Digital’s success follows its employees’ commitment to clients and its HP technology investments. One recent project presents the full value of ImageSet’s digital press offerings – a two-year printing contract for which one of the firm’s HP Indigo press 5000s has already printed 850,000 personalized seasonal note cards. The cards were printed for the Children’s Art Project at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, which raises funds to benefit cancer patients and their families. Cards printed for the project feature young cancer patients’ artwork. Previously, this job had been produced by another company on offset equipment, with millions of shells produced and later overprinted. Children’s Art Project managers sought a digital on-demand solution for a simpler and streamlined workflow. Because of this emphasis on efficiency, ImageSet Digital won the printing contract for the personalized portion of the project, and was able to decrease turnaround times from 2-3 weeks to 2-3 days. Poised with its strong digital printing infrastructure, ImageSet Digital managers plan on continuing to capitalize on the opportunities present with variable-data based campaigns. The HP Indigo press 5000, the most advanced high-end digital printing press on the market, is designed for extremely demanding production environments. Pantone-licensed, it prints in up to seven colors, delivering offset quality on a wide range of substrates, and is supported by a complete range of specialized solutions partners.
